Paced bottle feeding has become all the rage and parents are left guessing if they are doing it right. Bottle feeding doesn’t have to be complicated. As long as baby is full term, healthy and doesn’t have swallowing concerns, then paced feeding typically isn’t needed and can interrupt your baby’s natural feeding rhythm.
✅ Use a true slow-flow ni**le.
✅ Place baby in an elevated sidelying position (their head should be higher than their bottom).
✅ Only intervene if baby is gulping, coughing, or choking. Otherwise let them feed rhythmically at their own pace.
✅ Seek out a feeding therapist (occupational or speech) if you have questions or concerns about your baby’s feeding skills.
