5 out of 5 stars from James Pullman, PT after completing our Level 2 Homestudy. He rated his readiness to start needling “Monday” a perfect 5 and said Dr. Ken Cooper’s delivery, pacing, and explanations make him “a rock star.” 🔥

The end of the year has a way of sneaking up on you. đź“…

And if you’re a PT, ATC, or DC — your CEU clock is ticking. Here’s a quick breakdown of what your renewal requirements look like:

🩺 Physical Therapists
Most states require 20–30 contact hours per 2-year renewal cycle, though requirements vary by state. Your license renewal deadline depends on your state board — but many fall at the end of the calendar year. Don’t assume you have more time than you do.

⚡ Certified Athletic Trainers
The BOC requires 50 CEUs every two years. The next reporting period may sound far away — until it isn’t. 10 of those hours must be Category A. A weekend seminar checks that box in one shot.

🔬 Chiropractors
CE requirements vary significantly by state — ranging from 12 hours annually to 40 hours per 2-year cycle. Many state DC boards also specifically recognize dry needling CE hours as eligible credit. That’s worth knowing.

Here’s where Mastery Dry Needling comes in. 👇

Our DN Level 1 and Level 2 seminars each award 27 CE hours — completed in a single weekend. That’s a significant chunk of your requirement done in two days, with a clinical skill that immediately changes how you treat patients.

Can’t make a live weekend before year’s end? Our DN-1 + DN-2 Homestudy Combo offers 54 CE hours total with lifetime access — so you can work through it on your schedule and still get those hours on the books.

Don’t let December sneak up on you with a CE deficit and nothing to show for it. 📌

*Always verify CE acceptance with your specific state licensing board.

📊 New Research: Dry Needling + PT Beats PT Alone for Shoulder Tendinopathy

A newly published study in the Turkish Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Sept 2026) looked at 64 patients with supraspinatus tendinopathy — one of the most common causes of shoulder pain in clinical practice.

The setup: Patients were split into two groups. One received dry needling plus a standard physical therapy and rehab program. The other received PT alone. Researchers tracked pain, disability, range of motion, grip strength, kinesiophobia (fear of movement), and tendon/muscle thickness at baseline, 1 month, and 3 months.

What they found:
✅ The dry needling group showed significantly greater improvement in pain (VAS) and shoulder disability (SPADI) scores
✅ Passive shoulder range of motion improved significantly more in the DN group by month 3
✅ Grip strength saw a significant boost between month 1 and month 3 in the DN group
✅ Fear of movement (kinesiophobia) scores dropped significantly more with DN added
✅ In patients with partial tears, tendon thickness increased significantly in the DN group — a meaningful structural finding, not just a symptom change

Why this matters for your practice: This isn’t just “dry needling helps pain.” This study shows measurable functional and even structural improvements when DN is added to a standard rehab plan for shoulder tendinopathy — exactly the kind of evidence that supports integrating needling into your treatment planning rather than treating it as an add-on.

If you’re not yet trained in dry needling, or want to sharpen your shoulder and upper extremity technique, this is exactly the kind of outcome our courses are built to help you replicate in your own clinic.

Master Dry Needling offers hands-on, evidence-informed training designed to get you needling confidently and safely — from foundational courses to advanced specialty tracks.

Kinda chic to see what you’re treating instead of guessing. 👀

Swipe through ➡️ because pelvic floor dry needling just got a serious upgrade.

For the first time since COVID, Master Dry Needling is bringing back our Pelvic Floor Dry Needling course — and this time, it’s paired with something most CE courses don’t offer: live Rehabilitative Ultrasound Imaging (RUSI) throughout the entire weekend.

Here’s what that actually means for you as a student:

🔍 Watch muscle activation in real time. As you learn transabdominal and transperineal needling technique, our host site’s RUSI specialists will be imaging live — so you can literally see the transverse abdominis, internal/external obliques, and pelvic floor musculature respond as needling is performed.

🔍 Understand what you’re palpating, not just where. RUSI lets you visualize pelvic organ position, Kegel activation patterns, and anorectal angle changes in real time — connecting what your hands feel to what’s actually happening under the skin.

🔍 Leave with objective assessment skills, not just needling technique. You’ll see how bladder volume, post-void residual, and pelvic floor lift are measured via ultrasound — skills you can bring straight back to your own practice to track patient outcomes.

This isn’t a course where you learn technique in isolation and hope the anatomy lines up. You’ll be needling while watching the exact structures you’re targeting move in real time, guided by a host practice that specializes in RUSI.

That’s the kind of clinical depth you don’t get very often — and we haven’t offered this course since before the pandemic.

🔍 You can’t palpate what you can’t see... but with RUSI (Rehabilitative Ultrasound Imaging), you can.

One of the biggest challenges in pelvic rehab? Assessing and treating muscles that aren’t easily accessible through palpation alone. That’s where RUSI changes the game.

With RUSI, you can:
🔹 Visualize diastasis recti and core activation patterns (TrA, internal/external obliques, re**us abdominis) in real time via transabdominal imaging

🔹 Assess pelvic organ position, Kegel activation, and anorectal angle changes during bearing down — including measuring degree of prolapse — via transperineal imaging

🔹 Measure bladder volume, post-void residual, and bladder base lift during a Kegel — without additional urodynamic testing

🔹 See exactly what’s happening under the needle during pelvic floor dry needling — adding a layer of precision and justification most providers never get to use

For patients, it means finally seeing and feeling what you’re cueing. For you, it means objective, trackable outcomes.

And now, for the first time since COVID, Master Dry Needling is bringing our Pelvic Floor Dry Needling course back but this time with RUSI. 🙌

Chronic back pain doesn’t always live in the muscle.

In this clip, Dr. Ken Cooper breaks down a often-overlooked approach to chronic low back pain: dry needling the supraspinous ligament, interspinous ligament, and the periosteum of the spinous processes. 🎯

Rather than only chasing muscular trigger points, he shares how targeting these deeper structures — combining clinical experience with what’s currently emerging in dry needling research — can open up new options for patients who haven’t responded to more conventional approaches.

A great reminder that ligamentous and periosteal tissue can be just as relevant to a pain presentation as muscle. 🧠💉

*OF NOTE, Dr. Cooper mentions he would use a 15mm needle but the audio may make it sound like he says 50mm. 50mm needle would be too long in this treatment case and could cause harm to the spine if improper technique is used.
