☀️Meet Gina☀️

1. How long have you been a member at Barre-Up and what inspired you to take your first class?

✨ I joined around Oct ’22 shortly after relocating from Memphis to the Raleigh area- I’ve been an avid Pilates + barre student since 2011 and needed a new studio to call home. A simple online search brought me in for my first class and I’ve been hooked since.

2. What’s one class or workout move you never thought you’d enjoy, but now love?

✨ I was skeptical of buti at first (I had taken a class in another city that was labeled as “buti” but I now realize was more choreography/dance focused). I gave it another go at the studio and absolutely loved the vibe and music!

3. What’s a favorite song that would hype you up in every class if you heard it?

✨ Anything Meg thee Stallion 🙂 🔥

4. What‘s something you’ve learned about yourself since joining?

✨That no matter how hectic and stressful life/schedules get, continuing to show up - reserving time for “me” is a non-negotiable. Being the best version of myself gives me the energy and strength I need to show up for my family and community 💪🏻

5. When you’re not taking a class, where might we find you?

✨Out and about with my husband and very active 19 month old son- likely slamming 🌮🌮somewhere in Raleigh’s awesome food scene.

6. What’s a fun fact or hidden talent you’d like to share with our community?

✨Huge foodie if the previous question didn’t reveal that 🙂 When we’re not checking out a new restaurant, I love cooking for my family and am always looking for some new and exciting recipe to experiment with!

7. How has being a part of our studio/community impacted your wellness journey?

✨I joined just before a pivotal journey with pregnancy and postpartum- having such a warm/supportive community of women surrounding me at the studio really encouraged me to keep up the momentum and love my changing body during a very transformative time. Both instructors and fellow students have truly given me a judgement-free, welcoming safe space- I love sweating + catching up with my crew every week 💛

✨ Gina - we have loved watching your transformation from new student in a new city into motherhood and beyond! You juggle a LOT but always, always prioritize making a little time for yourself so you can show up better for your sweet family and the world around you! ☀️🤍

one of our members recently shared something in her spotlight questionnaire that really stuck with us:

she said she’s realized she’s not necessarily on a “fitness journey,” but instead trying to cultivate a lifestyle that includes movement and strength training so she can remain strong and mobile throughout her life.

and honestly… we couldn’t love that perspective more.

because in a world that constantly pressures women to look a certain way, it’s refreshing to remember that movement can be about so much more than appearance.

it can be about longevity.
energy.
mental health.
confidence.
strength.
feeling at home in your body.
showing up for your life fully.

that mindset shift feels powerful and it’s a big part of what we hope this space supports for so many women. ✨
