WPI is encouraging everyone to register or donate to The Network to support their campaign, Pace to the Capitol!
We recognize how important this campaign will be to spread awareness about ME/CFS, uplift voices of those who live with the condition, and to help change policies and research funding for ME/CFS and Long Covid!
Join our Pace to the Capitol! We can’t Race, but we can Pace. Register today to help change policy, culture and research funding for ME and Long COVID. https://www.meaction.net/pace-to-the-capitol-landing
“Pace to the Capitol” is a seven month campaign leading up to May 12, 2027 when we will place 200 empty beds in front of the U.S. Capitol. Two hundred reminders of the people missing from school, work, family life, and public view because of ME/CFS and Long COVID.
We are working on a number of unprecedented opportunities this year that we have never had at once, and we need to keep ME in the spotlight.
We are working with Congress to get the ME/CFS Research Roadmap funded. We are working with the Surgeon General's office to develop and disseminate ME/CFS educational materials to clinicians. We are working with The Library of Congress to recognize ME/CFS as a disability that qualifies for services. We are working with State Medicaid leaders to protect Medicaid for our community. We are working in Hollywood and have set up an event to educate TV writers and showrunners about ME/CFS.
We have lots more info coming but here is how you can join in- pick one or more!
- Washington, DC: Join us in DC for our culminating event in front of the U.S. Capitol, where we will display 200 beds to make the suffering of ME and Long COVID visible.
- In Your Community: Join the movement to place mini beds in public places and large beds in front of capitols in your state. A guide will be coming!
- From your bed: Using mini beds and creative storytelling, our community at home will speak about their own experiences living with the disease - and the necessity of pacing.
- Get your pace pack: Everyone who raises $150 or more will receive a pacing pack that is centered on the “home team” or the “hill team,” which includes minibeds and a mini cardboard cut out of the capitol building.
