The Committee on Energy and Commerce is the oldest standing legislative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and is vested with the broadest jurisdiction of any congressional authorizing committee.

At CommonSpirit Health, Erika leads compounding operations for over 140 hospitals. She sets system-wide safety standards across sterile, non-sterile, and hazardous drug compounding while managing quality assurance for the 503B outsourcing program.

Erika previously achieved zero regulatory findings across all facilities in her purview—a milestone proving that standardized frameworks and proper training empower technicians to drive clinical integrity.

Her advice to fellow CPhTs: "Don’t just ask for the opportunity; bring the ideas behind your ask, master your craft, and prove you are ready to lead. If the door doesn’t open for you, build your own door."

Safety Tip: Closing the Feedback Loop on QRE Reporting

Reporting QREs is a critical first step in documenting risks and harm. QRE reports can lead to actionable improvements in:

▪️ workflow
▪️ modified technology/software
▪️ the pharmacy's workspace design
▪️ quality of patient care

Closing the feedback loop is a positive step to increase employee engagement and improve the safety culture.
