A new school year can bring excitement—but it can also bring stress, worry, exhaustion, and overwhelm. 🎒

Even when a child seems to be managing well at school, those feelings may surface at home through irritability, emotional outbursts, trouble sleeping, stomachaches, perfectionism, withdrawal, or resistance to going to school.

These changes don’t necessarily mean something is wrong. Sometimes, they are simply signs that a child needs additional time, connection, or support while adjusting to a new routine.

At Sage House Therapy, we provide a supportive space where children and teens can express what they’re feeling, develop healthy coping skills, and feel more confident navigating school and everyday life.

Free phone consultations are available.

A Parent’s Guide to Knowing When your Child May Need Therapy💛✨

Sometimes it’s hard to know if your child is going through a phase or if they could use some extra support.

Changes in mood, behavior, friendships, school, or the way they cope with big emotions can be signs that your child may benefit from having a safe space to talk, process, and build new coping skills.

Therapy isn’t about something being “wrong.” It’s about helping children feel understood, supported, and confident as they navigate life’s challenges. 🌱

If you’re wondering whether therapy might be right for your child, we’re here to help.

Wellness Wednesday 🎨📸

Trying a new art medium can offer a welcome break from everyday demands.

Whether you experiment with watercolor, oil pastels, ceramics, photography, knitting, stamp carving, or scrapbooking, creating can help you slow down, focus on the present moment, and express yourself in a new way.

There is no “right” way to make art—and the finished product doesn’t have to be perfect. The value is in giving yourself the freedom to explore, experiment, and enjoy the process.

Which art medium would you most like to try? 💖

Choosing a therapist for your child is about more than finding someone with the right credentials—it’s about finding someone who truly sees and understands your child.

Every child brings their own culture, family values, identity, and life experiences into the therapy room. When those parts of who they are are acknowledged and respected, therapy can become a more meaningful, connected, and effective experience.

Our newest blog explores what culturally responsive therapy is, why it matters for children, and how parents can advocate for care that honors their child’s unique story.
