During the interview, we discussed the SPEAK OUT!® program—what it is, how it works, and why it’s such an effective, evidence-based treatment for individuals with Parkinson’s. We’re so passionate about helping people regain their voice, improve communication, and maintain confidence in their daily lives, and it was an honor to share that mission.

🧠 Simple Mental & Emotional Coping Strategies After Parkinson’s Diagnosis:

• Write down your questions and bring them to appointments
• Start a journal to process thoughts and emotions
• Learn one small thing about Parkinson’s each day (not everything at once!)
• Talk with others who understand—support groups matter
• Stay socially connected
• Try gentle brain activities like puzzles, reading, and memory games
• Focus on what you can control today

🧠 Simple Cognitive Exercises for People with Parkinson’s 🧠

Many people know Parkinson’s can affect movement, but it can also impact thinking skills like memory, attention, processing speed, and problem-solving. The good news? Just like muscles, your brain benefits from regular exercise too! 💪🧠

Here are some simple, everyday cognitive activities you can try:

✨ Word Games – Crosswords, word searches, Scrabble, or Wordle help with language, memory, and problem-solving.

🗓️ Memory Practice – Try recalling your grocery list before checking it, memorizing a short poem, or repeating names after meeting someone.

🔢 Mental Math – Add up your purchases, count backward by 2s or 5s, or calculate tips in your head.

📖 Reading Out Loud – This supports attention, comprehension, and speech clarity all at once. Bonus: it also helps with voice projection!

🧩 Puzzles – Jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, and logic puzzles strengthen focus and visual-spatial skills.

🎶 Music & Rhythm – Singing along to songs or clapping to a beat supports memory, sequencing, and timing.

🗣️ Conversation Practice – Telling stories, summarizing a movie, or discussing current events keeps language and recall sharp.

📝 Daily Journaling – Writing about your day helps with organization, memory, and emotional processing.
