“When I lost my vision, I lost my ability to drive. When you can’t drive you’ve lost your independence,” said Gwen Ross, 85.
That was until she learned about the City of Royal Oak’s senior transportation program. For over 30 years, the program has offered those 60 and up, and those with disabilities, transportation to and from medical appointments as well as other daily activities.
When asked what the transportation program means to her, Gwen said, “Everything. It’s given me my life back in a lot of ways. The drivers are so friendly, helpful and treat you with dignity and respect. My experience has been wonderful.”
