Found for us
A new music

Whatever you enfolded in your gaze

A travel expert known for exploring Europe just made a big investment in his own backyard. 🏠

In December 2025, Rick Steves paid $2.25 million to buy the Lynnwood Hygiene Center in Washington state. The center had been running since 2020, providing free showers, meals, laundry, and a warm place to rest for hundreds of homeless people. But the building was going to be sold, and the center was about to close.

Steves heard about it on the news and decided to act. He said it was the best Christmas gift he could give to his unhoused neighbors. His purchase saved the center, and community donations added another $400,000 for upgrades and expansion.

A gift that kept people warm, fed, and cared for. 🧡

In the winter of 1940, Czech airman Václav Bozdech was stranded in no‑man's‑land after being shot down over France. While hiding from German patrols, he found a starving puppy in an abandoned farmhouse and knew the animal's barking could get them all killed. He returned to the puppy with a rock, ready to kill it, but could not bring himself to do it. Instead, he tucked the pup inside his jacket and carried it to safety.

That dog, named Antis, became an RAF legend. He flew 30 combat missions over Germany with Bozdech, was wounded by shrapnel twice, and helped rescue survivors from bombing raids. After the war, Antis and Bozdech fled Communist Czechoslovakia together, with the dog guiding them past enemy patrols. In 1949, Antis received the Dickin Medal for his courage and devotion.

A dog who was nearly killed as a threat became one of the war's greatest heroes. 🐕✈️🇨🇿

The journey to success was long. It took four years, 27 different pumpkin varieties, and a staggering $400,000 investment to get it right . Chinese water deer are tiny enough to nearly fit in your hand. As they grow, they don't develop antlers like other deer. Instead, they grow sharp, fang-like tusks that stick out from their mouths. That's why they're called "vampire deer."

They may look fierce, but these shy animals live in wetlands and use their teeth mostly for fighting other deer. Small but surprising. 🦷🌿
