💜 United Way Day of Caring is underway at Tri-County Help Center! 💜

We kicked off the morning with breakfast and a warm welcome for six volunteers from WesBanco who are spending the day with us as part of United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley’s Day of Caring!

We are so grateful for their willingness to roll up their sleeves and help us with some very special projects. So far, the team has been busy:

🎨 Creating decorations and signs for our “Roots to Rise” window display and our “United in Purple” Rally in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

🪨 Painting rocks with inspiring messages of hope, strength, and encouragement for survivors. These will soon be placed throughout our community as reminders that survivors are seen, supported, and never alone.

A huge THANK YOU to WesBanco for sharing your time and talents with us today! And thank you to United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley for organizing this incredible day of volunteerism and for the continued support you provide to nonprofits like ours.

Tri-County Help Center is proud to be a United Way agency. Their support helps fund TCHC's Community Education Program, allowing us to provide awareness, prevention, and education throughout Belmont, Harrison, and Monroe Counties on domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

This support is invaluable to the work we do, and we are grateful to be part of a community that comes together to make a difference. 💜

📸 Here’s a look at our morning so far! Stay tuned later today to see the finished projects and the final results of all the hard work!

We are so proud and excited to be partnering with Ohio University Eastern to bring Tri-County Help Center (TCHC) to campus twice a week — every Monday and Thursday!

Ohio University Eastern prioritizes the mental health and well-being of its students, and we are proud to be part of that commitment. 💚

As part of our partnership, students also have access to 6 FREE counseling sessions with Tri-County Help Center. We’re here not only when things feel difficult, but also to help students build the skills, connections, and confidence that support positive mental health every day.

Each week, TCHC staff will have a fun, quick activity designed to get students thinking about mental health, getting to know our staff, and creating low-pressure opportunities for open conversation, self-awareness, connection, and positive coping skills — all while helping reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

✂️ Week One: Shred Those Worries!📄➡️🗑️
For our first week, students shredded their first-week worries!
Starting a new school year can bring excitement, but it can also bring stress, nerves, uncertainty, and a whole lot of “What if…?” We gave students a chance to write down something that was weighing on their minds and then literally shred those worries away!

🧠 Week Two: Mental Health Jenga!
We’re back on campus this week and this time we’re bringing Mental Health Jenga! Mental Health Jenga is an interactive way to talk about emotional well-being. As students pull blocks, they’ll encounter questions, prompts, and challenges focused on things like emotions, coping skills, self-care, stress, relationships, and healthy ways to handle difficult situations.

It’s a fun, low-pressure way to start conversations that matter — because talking about mental health doesn’t always have to feel heavy.

📣 One week away!

You may be the person a survivor chooses to tell.

Drug- and alcohol-facilitated sexual assault can be difficult to recognize and understand. That first disclosure may happen with a friend, coworker, healthcare provider, educator, faith leader, advocate, or another trusted person.

That first response matters.

Join us Friday, August 28 for an important conversation with sexual assault advocates, a SANE, and law enforcement as we explore the survivor experience, trauma-informed responses, forensic medical care, investigative considerations, and community resources.

You don’t have to be an expert to make a difference. You just need to know how to respond.

Please share with friends, colleagues and community partners who may benefit from this conversation.

💚 Thank you, Ohio University Eastern!

What a great Bobcat Blitz! We loved being part of welcoming the newest Bobcats to campus and meeting such a wonderful incoming class. We’re excited to see all they accomplish!

A special thank you to Ohio University Eastern for welcoming Tri-County Help Center into your campus community and for our ongoing partnership. Through this partnership, students have access to free counseling sessions and on-campus support through TCHC, helping make mental health and well-being resources readily available when they need them.

We are proud to partner with a university that truly cares about and invests in the mental health and well-being of its students.

We look forward to another great year together!🐾💚
