We offer confidential options counseling appointments. We know that each individual set of circumstances is unique. Our desire is for you to leave our center feeling informed and empowered to make the best choice regarding your pregnancy. We never financially benefit from your decision and can discuss your options with no pressure.

Abortion:
Abortion providers offer both medical and surgical abortions. The types of abortion that may be available depend on factors such as how far along a woman is in her pregnancy and what kinds of procedures an abortion provider offers. It may seem like abortion is the solution to moving on with your life or getting back on track. No matter what you choose – to carry or to abort – your life is forever changed. This pregnancy will always be part of your story. NOTICE: The Well does not offer or refer for abortion services, emergency contraception, or birth control; however, we do provide education and accurate information on all of your pregnancy options.

Adoption:
We provide free information about the adoption process and referrals to adoption agencies that best meet your needs. In most cases, financial assistance for medical and living expenses is available for the birth mother, along with other benefits. There is plenty of time to consider whether adoption is the right parenting choice for you. You have the right to understand how adoption could affect you and to receive support, including counseling during and after your pregnancy. We can help you consider the facts about adoption, as you decide if it may be a fit for your situation.

Parenting:
We’re here to help you take the time to address your parenting concerns and help you find the resources you need. Welcoming a child into the world means a lot of changes. Some are big, some are smaller; some are exciting, and others are scary. You don’t have to prepare for parenting alone; we can help you become the best parent you can be.

Contact us at TheWellprc.org to schedule your appointment for free options counseling, where we can discuss your specific circumstances and needs. We are here for you and truly care for you!

Wondering if you are pregnant?
There are multiple early symptoms, and some can show up as early as one week after conception. Early pregnancy signs and symptoms can often be mistaken as PMS symptoms. Learn to recognize the symptoms and know when to take a pregnancy test to provide peace of mind.

The most common symptoms include:
1. A missed period.
2. Fatigue.
3. Mild cramping or pulling in lower abdomen.
4. A light spotting of blood (light pink or brown in color) and not enough to fill a pad.
5. The breasts can change and become very sensitive. This is caused by hormonal changes, so you may notice that they become tender, heavy, sore, and ni***es darker in color.
6. Bloating is never fun, but this can be an early sign of pregnancy due to the progesterone slowing down digestion. As a result of the bloating, you may also experience constipation and the sensation of feeling full.
7. Nausea is a common symptom that can stay with you throughout your pregnancy, but it is also an early symptom. You may find yourself feeling queasy, having aversions to certain foods, vomiting, and a sensitivity to smells.
No two pregnancies are the same, and symptoms will vary.

When should I take a pregnancy test?
The most noticeable sign of early pregnancy is a missed period. If you have regular cycles and you miss your period, then you can take a pregnancy test after the first day of your missed period. If you are irregular but experiencing symptoms, then wait until 21 days after the point of conception. Taking a pregnancy test 1 – 2 weeks after your missed period will give you the most accurate results. A negative test result can occur from taking a test too early. If you feel that you are pregnant, wait a couple of weeks and take the test again.

First we must answer the question, what is the abortion pill? The abortion pill (aka chemical abortion) involves 2 pills: Mifepristone and Misoprostol. The first medication taken is mifepristone; its purpose is to block progesterone at the receptor sites. This disrupts the pregnancy by causing necrosis of the gestational sac and stops the passage of nutrients to the baby, causing infant death. The cervix is softened, and uterine contractility increases. The second medication is Misoprostol, taken 2-3 days later. The purpose is to expel the baby through cramping. The common symptoms of these medications include heavier bleeding than a typical menstrual period, and sometimes blood clots are noted. Abdominal cramping can be more intense than menstrual cramps. Other symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and fatigue.

During the abortion reversal process, progesterone is given. Progesterone is a crucial hormone during pregnancy, as it prepares the uterus for pregnancy and supports development and growth of the baby. When given after the mother has taken Mifepristone, progesterone will flood the receptor sites and restore an environment for a viable pregnancy. Women are educated on side effects of medications and instructed on when to seek medical services.

The Abortion Pill Reversal hotline is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Women that have taken the first dose of the abortion pill can call the hotline at 877-558-0333 or visit www.abortionpillreversal.com to chat with a health care professional for further instruction or to answer questions and concerns.

Abortion remains a significant legal, medical, & personal issue across the United States, & Utah is no exception. With changing laws & ongoing court cases, it can be difficult to understand what is currently allowed & what restrictions are in place.

Abortion is currently legal in Utah, but it is limited & regulated under state law. A near-total abortion ban was passed by the Utah Legislature & triggered after the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022. However, that law is currently blocked by the courts while legal challenges continue.
At this time:
• Abortion is permitted up to 18 weeks of pregnancy
• Court rulings have paused stricter laws that would significantly reduce access
This means individuals can still seek abortion services within the legal timeframe & under specific medical & legal requirements.

After 18 weeks gestation, abortion is generally not allowed unless certain exceptions apply. Exceptions include:
• Serious risk to the life / major bodily health of the mother
• Fetal conditions that are considered incompatible with life
• Pregnancy resulting from r**e / in**st
In cases involving r**e / in**st, Utah law generally requires that the incident be reported to law enforcement for the exception to apply.

What to Do If You’re Pregnant & Unsure
Facing an unexpected pregnancy can feel overwhelming, but you are not alone. Taking time to gather information & support can help you make a confident & informed decision.
Here are important first steps:
• Confirm Your Pregnancy. Medical-grade pregnancy testing & an ultrasound can confirm viability & how far along you are.
• Understand Your Options. Learn about all available options, including parenting & adoption, & understand how abortion is regulated under Utah law.
• Seek Support. Talking with someone who will listen without pressure / judgment can make a meaningful difference during this time.

At The Well, we provide free & confidential services, including:
• Pregnancy testing
• Limited OB ultrasounds
• Options counseling
• Abortion pill reversal
• Support after abortion or miscarriage
You don’t have to navigate this alone. Contact us to learn more / schedule a confidential appointment.
