We are two months away from our 8th annual Spread the Warmth FH event. Our goal each year is simple: share love, warmth, and generosity right here in our community and surrounding communities. Whether it's coats, blankets, hats, or gloves, every little bit of support helps keep our neighbors warm when the chill finally sets in. It is always so amazing to see how our community comes together to care for one another.

It is with heavy hearts that all of us at Forest Hills Area EMS extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Retired Fire Chief and Lifetime Member of St. Michael Fire Department Michael “Moose” Gdula.

Moose dedicated an incredible 54 years to the fire service and to his community. Throughout those years, he served in many roles, including Fire Chief, always answering the call and putting others before himself.

For those of us at Forest Hills Area EMS, it was truly an honor and a privilege to work alongside Moose over the years. The bond between fire and EMS is built on trust, teamwork, and countless calls where we stood side by side helping people in their greatest moments of need. Moose was the kind of firefighter and community member you could always count on.

His service, friendship, and dedication will not be forgotten. The fire service and our community have lost one of the good ones.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Retired Fire Chief and Lifetime Member, Michael “Moose” Gdula. Moose was a 54 year member of the department - holding many positions including that of our Fire Chief. Our sincerest condolences go out to his wife Patty, their son Michael and their families. Thank you Moose for a job well done! Funeral arrangements will be taken care of by CO Dimond Funeral Home.

A Huge Thank You to the South Fork Lions Club!

Tonight, your ambulance service was honored to receive a $15,000 grant from the South Fork Lions Club, in conjunction with the PA Lions Foundation!

This was a matching grant, and the South Fork Lions Club went above and beyond by raising and matching $19,000 through their “Dueling Pianos” fundraiser earlier this year. What an incredible commitment to our community!

The grant funding will be used to purchase Bair Hugger warming systems, heating blankets, and additional communication equipment.

We are especially proud that, thanks to the generosity of the South Fork Lions Club, your ambulance service will be the first ambulance service in our region to carry the Bair Hugger warming system. This equipment will help us better care for patients who are suffering from hypothermia or are otherwise in need of advanced warming during transport.

From all of us at Forest Hills Area EMS, thank you to the South Fork Lions Club and the PA Lions Foundation for investing in your local EMS and helping us provide an even higher level of care to our community.
