Grief carries an exhaustion that sleep cannot always reach.

It is not simply the tiredness that comes from sleepless nights or difficult days. It is the exhaustion of having to keep participating in a life that no longer feels like the life you knew.

Grief asks you to live with two realities at once.

You know they died. You know they are no longer physically here. And yet, there are moments when everything within you still expects them to be part of your life in the way they always were.

Your mind knows what happened, while your heart continues to reach for what has always belonged there.

And somehow, you are expected to keep living within that contradiction.

To make plans in a future you once imagined with them in it. To move through ordinary days carrying the knowledge that something profoundly important is missing from every one of them.

There is an exhaustion in continually meeting their absence.

In knowing, and still wishing it were not true.

In learning how to live in a world that continued, when part of your own world ended with them.

You are carrying the reality of their death alongside the reality of your continuing love.

And some days, simply carrying both is enough.
