Bill J. Jerabek, Jr.

William James “Bill” Jerabek, Jr., 91, of St. Paul, died Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Farwell. The Rev. Vince Parsons will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul and the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.

A parish rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, October 19, at the church, with visitation to follow from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or its cemetery.

Bill was born on October 13, 1935, on the family farm near Farwell, the son of William Sr. and Frances (Bogacz) Jerabek. He attended Howard County rural school near Farwell and graduated from Farwell High School with the class of 1954.

After graduation, he worked as a hired hand for Mettenbrink Cattle Company in Grand Island. Bill enlisted in the United States Army and served from December 3, 1958, to November 30, 1964. While in the service, Bill married the love of his life, Bertha Evelyn Larchick, on April 20, 1959, at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. From June 1959 to June 1960, the couple lived in Neu-Ulm, Germany, where Bill was stationed.

Bill began farming with his father at the age of 19 and continued until his father’s passing in 1969. He then farmed on his own until his sons were old enough to join him.

Bill and Bertha lived and farmed outside of Farwell until moving to St. Paul in 2002. Bill continued farming until his retirement in 2007.

Bill served on the Farwell Public School Board from 1966 to 1978. He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Farwell and a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1918 of St. Paul.

Bill loved farming, enjoyed all Nebraska Cornhusker sports, and was a longtime Nebraska football season ticket holder.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha of St. Paul; his children and their spouses, Kelly and Dan Scheer of St. Paul, Randy and Lisa Jerabek of St. Paul, Kristine Lewin of Omaha, and Ryan and Lisa Jerabek of Farwell; his sister and brother-in-law, Maryann and Jim Lukasiewicz of Omaha; 10 grandchildren, Chris, Derick, Andrew, Bailey, Austin, Cole, Cleo, Grant, Tahya and Grace; and eight great-grandchildren, Kenley, Hank, Violet, Holt, Ensley, Lucy, Julia and Emerson, with another due in March.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Dave Lukasiewicz.

Grant Jacob Sullivan

Grant Jacob Sullivan, 35, of Holdrege, formerly of St. Libory, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at CHI Health St. Elizabeth in Lincoln.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church at Worms. The Rev. Craig Niemeier will officiate.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Grant was born on Feb. 6, 1991, in Grand Island, the son of Terry and Kim (Wichmann) Sullivan. He grew up in the St. Libory area and attended Zion Lutheran parochial school in Worms through the eighth grade. He then attended Palmer High School, where he graduated with the class of 2009. Upon graduation from high school, he enrolled at Central Community College in Hastings, where he received an associate degree in Machine Tool Technology with an emphasis in tool and die making.

He lived and worked in Hastings at Dutton-Lainson Company for five years and then moved to Holdrege to work at Becton-Dickinson, which later became Embecta. He was still employed with them at the time of his death.

Grant was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed all Husker sports, hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family, especially with his nieces and nephews. Grant also loved his dogs, Mitzi, Shadow, Maya and Ghost, and his newest dog, Fritz.

He leaves to mourn his passing his parents, Terry and Kim; brother and sister-in-law, Brett and Samie Sullivan and their children, Lauren, Max and Mila, of Ashland; and a sister and brother-in-law, Jenny and Matt Cordes and their children, Audra, Sawyer and Walker, of Kearney.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Beckett Cordes; and his grandparents, Don and Betty Wichmann and Bob and Betty Sullivan.

Loueen Jean Stefanowicz

Loueen Jean Stefanowicz, 81, of Grand Island, formerly of Farwell, died Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Grand Island.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Rev. John Doolittle will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Ladies Aid.

Loueen was born on March 12, 1945, at York, the daughter of Ervin H. and Rose W. (Pieper) Brahmstedt. She grew up on the family farm near Waco, received her education in the area and graduated from Waco High School.

She then attended Kearney State College, where she received her teaching degree in physical education. She began her teaching career with Columbus Public Schools and later taught for Loup City Public Schools.

She was united in marriage to Anton T. “Jake” Stefanowicz on June 11, 1971, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Grand Island.

The couple lived and farmed together near Farwell. On Jan. 11, 2011, they moved to the Good Samaritan Society in Grand Island. Anton died Dec. 17, 2011, and Loueen continued to live there until her passing.

Loueen was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

She was a kind and quiet person and an animal lover, especially fond of her dogs and the baby calves.

She is survived by a sister, Ellie Westwood of Waco; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Keren Brahmstedt of McCool Junction; sister-in-law, Sandy Brahmstedt of York; special nephew and his wife, Frank and Natalie Stefanowicz of Grand Island; and several other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ralph and Bill Brahmstedt.

Sharon J. Boehle

Sharon Jean Boehle, 77, of St. Libory, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at St. Libory’s Catholic Church in St. Libory. The Rev. Sidney B. Bruggeman will celebrate the Mass. Inurnment will be at a later date in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. parish rosary.

In lieu of flowers and plants, Sharon requested that memorials be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Sharon was born Feb. 7, 1949, in Grand Island, the daughter of LeRoy Henry and Margery Ann (Rose) Buhrman, during the “Blizzard of ’49.”

The family moved to a small house in St. Libory when Sharon was about 4 years old. Sharon was the oldest of 13 children, and the family shared a very happy life together. She attended St. Libory’s Catholic School, where she was taught by the nuns through the eighth grade. She then attended Northwest High School in Grand Island, graduating with the class of 1967. She then attended Hastings Community College for one year.

She married Bruce Antonson in June 1969. Shortly afterward, Bruce was stationed with the United States Army in Stuttgart, Germany. Their daughter, Christina Elizabeth, was born in April 1970.

After returning to the United States and buying a house, they welcomed their son, Eric Lee, in March 1973. Sharon’s children were her whole world, and they did everything together. She and Bruce divorced in 1986. Sharon worked in customer service at the Holiday Inn in Grand Island and later for the City of St. Paul from 1999 until retiring in 2014.

In September 2006, she married Dave Boehle of St. Libory, and they shared a beautiful and happy life together. She was also blessed with two grandsons, Shea and Colby Miotke. Sharon attended as many of their school and sporting events as possible, which she greatly enjoyed.

Sharon enjoyed many things in her life. She loved traveling, gardening, reading, oil painting and hosting family gatherings for brunches, dinners and holiday celebrations. Gardening was a little bit of heaven to Sharon, and she spent much time caring for her vegetables and flowers.

She is survived by her husband, Dave Boehle; children, Christina Miotke and Eric and Jennifer (Price) Antonson; grandsons, Shea and Colby Miotke; daughters and sons-in-law, Tiffany Boehle and Matt Dean and Cashmere Boehle and Steve Weeks; brothers, Dan Buhrman, Ed Buhrman, Steve Buhrman and Joseph Buhrman; sisters, Becky Schleicher, Laurie Hovland, Mary Bejot, Kathy Rathel, Monica Fries, Rose Fuss and Teresa Nowak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Michael J. Buhrman; and sister, Anne Marie Buhrman.

Betty L. Wichmann

Betty L. Wichmann, 91, of St. Paul, formerly of St. Libory, died peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, at the Grand Island City Cemetery in Grand Island. The Rev. Craig K. Niemeier will officiate. The family requests casual attire.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Betty was born Nov. 17, 1934, on the family farm near Doniphan, the daughter of Walter and Erna (Stueven) Boltz. She attended country school near the family farm and later graduated from Doniphan High School.

Betty was raised in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worms.

She was united in marriage to Don Wichmann on July 18, 1956. Betty was a farm wife, mother and homemaker.

She enjoyed cross-stitching and putting together puzzles. Most of all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Kim and Terry Sullivan, Steve Wichmann, Greg Wichmann, and Lisa and Duane Bierbaum, all of St. Libory; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, with another on the way; sisters and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Ron Bahensky and Wanda Knuth; brother-in-law, Wendell Toben; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Wichmann, on July 4, 2004; great-grandson, Beckett Cordes; sister, Beverly Toben; and brother-in-law, Dennis Knuth.
