Staff and volunteers had a unique opportunity this morning to share with a new generation of servant leaders how their faith impacts their work.

This summer, 10 young adults are participating in a paid internship program through the Saint Paul Area Synod, ELCA. (Lyngblomsten is affiliated with the ELCA, or Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.) From June through early August, the interns spend 20–24 hours each week serving at their assigned internship site, which includes various ministry partners of the synod, congregations, and other nonprofits. One of these interns is Grant Siebert, who is spending his summer serving with The Gathering, Lyngblomsten’s group respite program for adults with early- to mid-stage memory loss.

The interns also gather each Monday morning for a time of worship, learning, and conversation about their experiences, and this week, they met at Lyngblomsten’s campus in Como Park. Nine Lyngblomsten employees and volunteers from a variety of areas—including nursing, Community Services, Volunteer Services, Marketing Communications, and the salon/beauty shop—shared a little about their faith background, why they feel called to work with older adults, and what brings them joy in their work.

THANK YOU to Grant and all of the young adult interns for your service to others this summer!
