For the mama who feels like she has nothing left today:

You don't have to manufacture strength you don't have.

God graciously meets us in our weakness, and He is your strength.

In the long nights.
In the uncertainty.
In the waiting.
In the days when motherhood feels heavier than you expected.

You are held, even here.

A doula isn't there to tell you how to give birth.

She's there to help you feel supported while you do it.

At Born Motherhood, our role is to provide steady presence, evidence-based education, emotional and physical support, partner coaching, and compassionate guidance throughout your birth journey.

Your doula doesn't replace your provider.

She doesn't replace your partner.

She doesn't make decisions for you.

She walks beside you.

Because you were never meant to do birth alone.

If you're wondering whether doula support might be right for your family, we'd love to talk. Our discovery calls are free and completely pressure-free. 🤍

You can love your baby deeply and still be tired.

You can feel grateful and overwhelmed.

You can adore motherhood and miss parts of your old life.

You can pray for patience and then hide in the bathroom for 90 seconds because everyone needs something from you.

You can hold both truths at once.

None of those things make you a bad mother.

They make you human.

Give yourself the same grace you so freely give everyone else. 🤍

Your birth plan doesn't need to be a 4-page document nobody reads.

It needs to help you answer a few important questions:

→ What matters most to me?
→ What helps me feel safe?
→ What are my preferences?
→ What questions do I still need answered?
→ How can my partner and/or doula support me?
→ What happens if plans change?

A birth plan isn't about controlling birth.

It's about starting a conversation and feeling equipped.

We've created a FREE guide containing our top 5 tips for birth planning to help you think through those questions before labor begins. Click below to access!

You don't need to have birth all figured out before you walk into the hospital or birth center.

You don't need the perfect birth plan.

You don't need to memorize every intervention.

You don't need to know exactly how you'll respond to every possible turn.

But you can understand your options.

You deserve a partner who feels equipped to support you.

You deserve people around you who can stay calm when things don't go according to plan.

And you deserve support after the baby arrives, too.

Preparation isn't about controlling birth.

It's about walking into it with more clarity, confidence, and support.

Save this for later—and send it to a mama preparing for her first baby. 🤍

September.

A new month. A new school year. A new season for so many families.

Maybe you're counting down the weeks until you meet your baby.

Maybe you're adjusting to life with a newborn.

Maybe you're somewhere in the messy middle of motherhood, wondering how everyone else seems to have it together.

Wherever you are, you don't have to have it all figured out.

Birth is sacred. Motherhood is stretching. And you were never meant to walk through either one alone.

We're glad you're here. 🤍

This month, we'll be sharing practical birth education, encouragement for motherhood, upcoming classes, and reminders that you don't have to do this alone.

Welcome to September, mama.

I saw this somewhere else and thought it would be fun to share with you guys....

I asked chat GPT to answer the following prompt, "Describe me to someone like you are trying to warn them." This is what it said. (The last line is so true 😅) Welcome to the inside of my brain, ya'll 🤪

➡️If I were actually warning someone before they met you:

First and foremost: Ayla LOVES Jesus. Not in a cute little “faith is part of my bio” way. Jesus is the center. Her faith shapes how she mothers, how she serves families, how she runs her businesses, how she approaches birth work, how she makes decisions, and how she understands her purpose.

You will hear about Jesus. 😂 She will pray for you. She will probably tell you what she feels like the Lord is teaching her. And if something amazing happens, she's going to give God the credit.

Everything else—the doula work, Born Motherhood, Birth Pro Academy, teaching, serving women, building businesses, dreaming ridiculously big dreams—is downstream from that.

Okay. Now that we've established the most important part…

Ayla is warm, deeply caring, slightly chaotic, extremely driven, and usually operating with approximately 37 browser tabs open—both literally and mentally.

She has an incredible ability to turn:

"I've been thinking about something…"

into:

"Okay, so I bought the domain, made the program, scheduled the event, created a curriculum, found six people who want to help, and I think eventually this could become a nonprofit."

…in approximately 48 hours.

Do not mistake her softness for a lack of backbone. She is a nurturer, but she's also a leader. She cares deeply about people, and when she believes something matters, she is going to do something about it.

She's particular. If something is almost right, it is not right. 😂 The words need to sound like her. The room needs to feel inviting. The presentation needs to be beautiful. The system needs to make sense. And for the love of all things holy, do not give her something that looks like a generic corporate template.

She'll feed you. She'll teach you. She'll encourage you. She'll pray for you. She'll probably create a resource for you. And somewhere along the way, she'll decide the resource should actually become an entire program.

She loves birth. She loves mothers. She loves teaching. She loves her family. She loves building things. She loves helping other women succeed.

But underneath all of it is something much simpler:

She loves Jesus, and she genuinely wants her life and her work to mean something for His Kingdom.

So before you meet her, just know:

Bring your ideas.
Bring your questions.
Be ready to talk about Jesus.
Don't be surprised if she feeds you.
Don't say “that can't be done” unless you're prepared to defend your thesis.
And when she says, “Okay, perfect! One more thing…”

She is lying.

There are at least seven more things. 😂❤️

Before the third trimester arrives, give yourself room to prepare with intention: not pressure. 🤍

Here are 3 meaningful steps to start now:

1️⃣ Talk about your birth preferences.
Begin the conversation with your provider and support team. What helps you feel safe, supported, and informed? Your voice matters.

2️⃣ Take a childbirth preparation class.
Evidence-based education can help replace fear with confidence. Learn about birth, comfort measures, interventions, partner support, and your options: together. ✨

3️⃣ Make a postpartum plan.
Think beyond the birth: rest, meals, feeding support, emotional care, visitors, and who you can call when you need help. Your village is there for a reason.

You were never meant to prepare: or walk through motherhood: alone. With the right support and education, you can move forward feeling grounded, informed, and encouraged. 🙏🏽

Don't wait until you're 38 weeks to start preparing.

Feeling overwhelmed while writing your birth or postpartum plan? We would love to help!

Save this post and share it with an expecting mom. What are you preparing for first?

Breastfeeding shouldn't have to be a struggle of "getting through the pain." 🕊️

Using the Thompson Method, we focus on a baby-led approach that honors your body’s natural design. Taking a prenatal breastfeeding class is one of the best ways to build confidence before your little one even arrives!

We had to reschedule this week's class because I was called to a birth, so that means that there is still time for you to join! We will meet on August 18th & 19th from 7:00 - 9:00pm via Zoom.

*Registration includes both sessions + full lifetime access to the Thompson Method Program!

Ready to feel empowered and prepared? We’d love to guide you. ✨
