We’re excited to partner with Church at the Park as one of our not-for-profit partners this fiscal year! Throughout September, Church at the Park will be connecting with the Capital Manor community and sharing more about the meaningful programs they provide in support of our homeless neighbors. This week, we kicked things off with an inspiring presentation from CEO DJ Vincent. We look forward to a month filled with opportunities to learn, serve, tour their work firsthand, and hear more about their innovative Training Kitchen.

After 15 years of dedicated leadership as our Executive Director, David Lewis will be retiring in January 2028. As we celebrate David’s incredible contributions, we’re also excited to welcome Deirdre Miller, our former Director of Finance, into her new role as Associate Executive Director. Congratulations to David and Deirdre on these exciting next chapters!

What a fun evening on the Community Center Green at Capital Manor! Residents gathered under the stars for our very first Outdoor Movie Night, complete with a giant inflatable screen, projector, comfortable seating, and all the movie-night essentials. And, of course, since we were watching Wonka, we had to have Wonka Bars! Along with plenty of popcorn and classic movie snacks, everyone had everything they needed for a fun night at the movies! Thank you to everyone who came out and made the evening such a sweet success. We can't wait for the next one!

We recently welcomed Amelia Romano and Asaf Ophir to Capital Manor for a truly unique musical experience. Their performance beautifully blended classical and contemporary music, bringing together the rich sounds of the lever harp, clarinet, and flute. Amelia's remarkable lever harp playing offered a fresh perspective on classical music, while her original compositions added wonderful influences from Latin American rhythms and folk traditions. Our residents enjoyed an evening filled with beautiful melodies, fascinating sounds, and an appreciation for the creativity these two talented musicians bring to their art. A special thank you to Amelia and Asaf for sharing their talents with our community. We loved having you with us!

The Conversation Spanish Group enjoyed an outing to Frida’s Mexican Kitchen & Bar in Salem, where members shared a delicious meal and had the opportunity to practice their Spanish. ¡Todos la pasaron muy bien!
