The month of June is known as Cancer from the Sun Month. With the beginning of the summer months, many people are spending more time outside. With this increased time in the sun, it is important to practice healthy sun habits to decrease the chance of you or your loved ones developing skin cancer. When in the sun, it's important to use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or above, wear protective clothing, spend time in the shade, and to regularly examine your skin for abnormalities.

After 37 incredible years at The START Center, today we celebrate Bonnie Clark, RN, and the extraordinary impact she has made on countless lives alongside Dr. Lon Smith.

Bonnie’s journey into nursing began with her father’s cancer diagnosis, where the compassion and care her family received inspired her to dedicate her life to helping others. From the moment she joined The START Center, she knew she was exactly where she was meant to be.

Throughout her career, Bonnie has been more than a nurse — she has been a source of comfort, strength, guidance, and love for patients and their families during some of life’s hardest moments. She made it her mission to ensure every patient felt like family, and in return, each patient left a lasting mark on her heart.

From groundbreaking clinical trials and life-changing treatments to the smiles, hugs, laughter, tears, and friendships built over the years, Bonnie’s legacy will forever be woven into the fabric of The START Center.

As she begins this next chapter, Bonnie leaves us with these words:
“To my coworkers, continue the legacy of making an impact on the lives you touch. To the community, always choose The START Center.”

Thank you, Bonnie, for 37 years of compassion, dedication, and unwavering care. Your START family and this community are forever grateful. Congratulations on your retirement! 🎉
