‼️We have a zero-tolerance policy for disrespect. Thank you for visiting PRMA's Breast Cancer Reconstruction Community. Are you interested in breast reconstruction? Want to learn more about your options? Our goal is to help breast cancer patients learn more about breast reconstruction and the latest procedures available. On

ly 30% of women facing mastectomy for breast cancer are offered breast reconstruction. With your help, we can change this. We want women to realize that breast reconstruction is not only possible but also an option for them. Breast reconstruction is NOT a cosmetic procedure; it is every woman's right. PRMA Plastic Surgery specializes in advanced breast cancer reconstruction techniques including the DIEP, SIEA, GAP & TUG flap procedures, vascularized lymph node transfer, fat grafting, Alloderm One-step, and ni**le-sparing mastectomy. We are In-Network for most US plans. Our most common reconstructive procedure, the DIEP flap, uses the patient's lower abdominal tissue to reconstruct a "natural", warm, soft breast. Unlike the TRAM flap, the DIEP flap preserves all the abdominal muscles. Patients undergoing DIEP flap reconstruction essentially receive a tummy tuck at the same time as the breast reconstruction. Since the abdominal muscles are spared, recovery is easier and patients retain abdominal muscle strength long-term. We have a lot of very useful information on our website http://PRMA-enhance.com - Please visit to learn more about today's most advanced breast reconstruction procedures. Please also sign-up for our newsletter to keep up to date on the latest breast reconstruction news. If you are interested in breast reconstruction at PRMA please contact us toll-free at (800) 692-5565 or via email at [email protected]. You can also get in touch via the "contact us" link on this page. Thanks again for visiting. Please become a "fan" - every little bit helps spread the breast reconstruction word! PRMA Plastic Surgery

How is PRMA’s patient population evolving? 🧬

As genetic testing has advanced, so has the way women approach breast health. As Dr. Pisano explains, PRMA’s earliest patients were women seeking reconstruction after cancer treatment. Over time, that expanded to immediate reconstruction—and today, many women are exploring reconstruction before cancer ever develops.

With over 50 known genetic markers now linked to increased breast cancer risk (far beyond BRCA1 & BRCA2), more patients are considering prophylactic mastectomy with reconstruction as a proactive, deeply personal choice.

For the right candidates, preventative mastectomy can dramatically reduce cancer risk and, when paired with expert reconstruction, help women move forward with confidence, function, and peace of mind.

✨ Knowledge is power. Options matter.

Did you know PRMA offers advanced surgical treatment for lymphedema? đź‘€

For many breast cancer survivors, lymphedema can be a lifelong challenge—but procedures like vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT) are helping restore lymphatic function and improve symptoms.

In this case, Dr. Fries performed a lymph node transfer using healthy nodes from the abdomen to help reduce swelling in the arm—already improving softness and mobility.

While there’s no cure for lymphedema yet, innovative microsurgical techniques like this are giving patients real relief and hope. 💗

Still thinking about what a special night this was 💗 We had the privilege of attending Pink Warrior Advocates’ 10th Annual Breast in Show Gala—a beautiful celebration of courage, resilience, and hope.

Every detail, from the pink carpet to the stories of the warriors being honored, reflected the heart behind this organization. We’re honored to support their Bra Assistance Program and to see the real impact it has on so many individuals in our community.

Thankful to stand alongside PWA and the life‑changing work they do every day. ✨

Aging affects every part of our body — and breast tissue is no exception. But what actually changes over time? 🤔

In this video, Dr. Merceron breaks down how aging impacts the breasts and how a breast lift can restore a more youthful shape and position.

You might notice things like:
✨ Loss of volume in the upper breast
✨ Skin stretching over time
✨ Ni***es sitting lower than they used to

A breast lift is designed to reshape the breast, remove excess skin, and reposition the ni**le — helping create a more lifted, balanced appearance.

Every patient’s anatomy and goals are different, which is why consultation and personalized planning are so important.

If you’re curious whether a breast lift could help you achieve your goals, Dr. Merceron and our team are here to guide you through your options and create a plan that’s right for you. 💗

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

Here in San Antonio—a community deeply connected to the military—and within our own PRMA team, where some of our physicians have served, this day holds special meaning.

We are grateful for their sacrifice and for the families who carry their legacy forward.

We remember, we honor, and we are thankful. ❤️
