🔬 Meet the blastocyst.

This is what day 5–6 of embryo development looks like under our lab’s time-lapse microscope — and it’s one of the most important checkpoints in the entire IVF process.

By this stage, the embryo has organized into two distinct cell types:
🔹 Inner cell mass — the dense cluster that goes on to become baby
🔹 Trophectoderm — the thinner ring of cells surrounding it, which forms the placenta

The fluid-filled cavity forming in between? That’s a sign the embryo is right on track.

Why it matters: reaching blastocyst stage is one of the strongest predictors of a healthy pregnancy. It means the embryo has made it through its most critical early divisions and shows the structure embryologists look for before transfer or freezing.

For many patients, this image is the first real glimpse of how their embryo is doing — a small screen, a big moment on the path to parenthood. 💙
