Orthopaedic Trauma Institute The UCSF Orthopaedic Trauma Institute (OTI) is located at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG), t Luke’s campuses), and San Jose Regional Hospital.

Regardless of where you live or which health insurance policy you carry, if you suffer a life- or limb-threatening injury in San Francisco, the ambulance will bring you to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. Once there, you’ll find our team of UCSF Orthopedic Department surgeons, specially trained to mend complex fractures all over the body. Having so much at stake –with p

ossible out-comes ranging from lifelong disability to full recovery– you’ll receive well-orchestrated care led by internationally-recognized “surgeons’ surgeons.”

Since 2005, we’ve put on the largest annual orthopedic trauma surgical course in the US, drawing instructors and attendees from over 20 countries and 40 states each year. In 2009, we brought our NIH-funded research labs, surgical training facilities, and administrative offices together under one roof and one name: Orthopaedic Trauma Institute. With a secure base at home, our group has also turned outward, founding the renowned Institute for Global Orthopaedics and Traumatology, dedicated to creating sustainable academic collaboration with surgical educators in developing countries. As our reputation has grown, other hospitals and networks have been seeking out our expertise. We currently offer orthopaedic trauma surgery services at SFGH, UCSF, Sutter (Davies and St. Our Mission:

SUMMER SAFETY TIPS:
☀️Summer Break is here!
With the beautiful weather and warm temperatures, many children may be outside riding bikes, playing with friends, and enjoying their time off.🏖
We'd like to remind everyone to stay alert, slow down in neighborhoods, and watch carefully for kids near streets, sidewalks, and parks. A little extra attention goes a long way in keeping our community safe.
We’ve also included a helpful graphic with some simple safety tips to remind kids playing or riding near city streets to do so safely.
We hope all students and families enjoy a fun and safe Summer Break!
