Why do psoriasis or eczema symptoms sometimes seem to flare without an obvious reason?
There isn't always one simple trigger. Research suggests that flare-ups can involve a combination of immune activity, skin barrier function, and environmental exposures. Factors associated with flares can include stress, infections, irritants, allergens, changes in temperature or humidity, and other individual circumstances.
And experiencing a potential trigger doesn't mean a flare will necessarily follow. Understanding your own patterns over time may provide useful context for managing a chronic condition and discussing changes with your healthcare provider.

Protein gets a lot of attention for building muscle, but that's only one of its jobs.
When you eat protein, your body breaks it down into amino acids. Those amino acids are then used to build and maintain proteins throughout the body - supporting tissue growth and repair, creating enzymes that help chemical reactions happen, contributing to certain hormones and signaling molecules, and supporting normal immune function.
In other words, protein isn't just a fitness nutrient. It's involved in essential processes your body relies on every day.

One unusual day doesn't always tell the full story.
Sleep, stress, activity, illness, travel, and changes in routine can all influence your everyday health data. Looking at patterns over time can provide more context than focusing on a single measurement.
Consistent tracking can help you understand what's typical for you, what changes occasionally, and what patterns seem to persist.
Download the Evidation app to connect the health data you're already tracking and learn more from your everyday patterns.

Inflammation often gets talked about as something we should avoid, but it's actually an important part of the body's normal defense and healing process.
Acute inflammation is the short-term response that helps your body react to an injury or infection. Immune cells and inflammatory signals help address the threat and support tissue repair. As healing progresses, the response typically winds down.
The concern is when inflammation doesn't resolve as expected. Persistent inflammation can keep the immune system activated over time, potentially contributing to tissue damage and playing a role in a range of health conditions.
The takeaway isn't that all inflammation is "bad." It's about what triggered the response, how long it lasts, and whether the body's inflammatory signals return to normal.

Health data isn't limited to numbers from a lab test, doctor's visit, or wearable. What you experience in everyday life matters, too.
Information people report about their own symptoms, functioning, and quality of life is often called patient-reported data. When collected through research, these experiences can help researchers understand how a condition affects daily life, how symptoms change over time, and where people's experiences may differ.
Fatigue, pain, mood changes, headaches, digestive changes, and skin symptoms can all add important context to the bigger picture of health.
At Evidation, we're helping make everyday health experiences part of the research conversation. Learn more about Evidation and opportunities to participate in research at https://www.evidation.com/

Headaches can feel similar, but they are not all caused by the same thing.
Tension headaches often feel like steady pressure or tightness and may be linked to stress, posture, or muscle tension. Cluster headaches are less common but can be extremely intense and often occur in recurring patterns. Sinus headaches are associated with sinus inflammation, although some headaches that feel like sinus pressure may actually be migraines.
Migraines can also vary. Some people experience aura before a migraine, while others do not. Chronic migraine involves frequent headache days and can significantly affect daily life.
Understanding the type and pattern of your headaches can help you have more informed conversations with your healthcare provider.

Your immune system can adapt based on what it has encountered before.
When the body is exposed to certain pathogens or vaccines, immune cells recognize specific antigens and mount a response. Afterward, some B cells and T cells remain as memory cells.
If the same antigen appears again, these memory cells can recognize it and help launch a faster, more targeted response. This process is known as immunological memory and is an important part of how adaptive immunity works.
Think of the process as recognition, response, memory, and faster recognition the next time around.
