In the age of misinformation, it’s easy to feel like some things just aren’t for us. At Strut, everything we offer is for YOU, and so is PrEP! Not a man? We stan! Not gay? It’s ok! PrEP can be for people of any gender and s*xuality. All you need is a desire for safer s*x and peace of mind. No need to worry about taking a pill every day either, PrEP now comes in a variety of administration methods and medication schedules, and can be as easy as one shot every 6 months! Most side effects are mild, short term, and easily managed. Come visit us at Strut to learn more about how easy it can be to enroll in our PrEP program.

In preparation for the Strut ten year anniversary, we visited the UCSF archives and found objects from Magnet’s early days. We will be displaying these with items from Strut’s past ten years on the third floor at our tea dance. Special thanks to the archivists at UCSF that worked with us on the project.

Every day this week (6/9 – 6/13), we’re incentivizing any appointment for transitional aged youth. On Thursday (6/11) we’re bringing back our third floor crafting space, and this time we brought friends! Come join us and our partners (Huckleberry Youth Programs, LYRIC, and SF LGBT Center) for an afternoon of creativity and connection.

Today we are spotlighting a unique prevention program: The Community and Home Injury Prevention Program for Seniors (CHIPPS). This program offers free home safety assessment for 60 years and older or living with a permanent disability, San Francisco resident, and/or non Medi-Cal member. Their injury prevention specialist can visit your home to assess your safety needs. If you need safety items, they can provide: night lights, bathmats, kitchen timers, grabber tools, and more! If you meet 100% AMI income eligibility, they can arrange free home safety modifications. For those who are not income-eligible for home safety modifications, they provide low-cost, reputable resources. Home modifications may include installation of grab bars, handrails, shower chairs, toilet rails, etc. To submit a CHIPPS referral form, please send to [email protected]. For more information, please visit their website: https://www.sf.gov/reduce-risk-falls-and-injuries-your-home

Today we are spotlighting the lifesaving connections made at Shanti Project. Shanti is a pioneering nonprofit that builds human connections to reduce isolation, enhance health and well-being, and improve quality of life. Shanti offers individuals meaningful opportunities to volunteer directly with our clients as Peer Support Volunteers and PAWS Pet Assistance Volunteers. We also provide other ways for volunteers to support our organization and our clients. Volunteer opportunities are offered for English or non-English speakers. Today we are spotlighting the incredible support offered at Openhouse, who enables San Francisco Bay Area LGBTQ+ seniors to overcome the unique challenges they face as they age by providing housing, direct services and community. They also started the nation’s first community day service by, and for, LGBTQ+ older adults, named for its location at 75 Laguna St. Club 75 was created in collaboration with LGBTQ+ community members. It is a welcoming space, with an emphasis on joy and belonging.
