OT Arts is an innovative pediatric occupational therapy clinic that helps children ages 2-13 learn skills to maximize their independence while having fun and expressing themselves. OT Arts combines traditional occupational therapy techniques (such as incorporating activities that are meaningful to the child into the therapy session and task analysis used to break down activities into their compone

nt parts) and sensory integration (a neurological approach that uses gross motor movement against resistance activities to help children better focus and attend) with novel approaches such as creative self-expression (using activities such as drawing, painting and arts and crafts to help increase engagement and work on underlying skills such as sequencing). This unique approach ensures that children get the maximum benefit from therapy as they enjoy themselves while making progress in a positive, welcoming and low-stress environment. As both an artist and an occupational therapist, I am passionate about combining my two loves to better serve children.

April is Autism Acceptance Month💙

Awareness is importance, but acceptance is what truly makes a difference. It allows us to move beyond simply recognizing autism and instead create spaces where everyone feels included and understood.

Every child experiences the world in their own way. When we shift our perspective, we can better meet kids where they are.

What does acceptance look like to you?

Here are some pictures of Lisa enjoying free time in the Palm Springs area 🌴⛱️ The first shows her at Sunnylands, the Annenberg estate in Rancho Mirage, a retreat center for world leaders where visitors can tour the mid-century modern house and grounds.

The second is Lisa on a windy day at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert, an AZA-accredited zoo focused on desert environments, where a crafty fox escaped and the hiking trails were closed during her visit 🦊 🌵

What are some of your favorite things to do in the Palm Springs area?
