Delegates from NEA-SF participated in the NM Delegate Council this weekend in ABQ. Delegates celebrated 140 years of NEA NM, and voted on various business of the Council including voting on the NM budget for 2027. The keynote speaker was NEA National President, Princess Moss. ❤️NEA-SF was acknowledged by NEA-NM for increasing membership by over 10%!!!🥳. Also, Christy Krenek, the NEA-SF President , and Kate MacDermott, VP of Certified Staff, campaigned for state positions. Krenek is running for NM NEA Director; while MacDermott is running for NM NEA Alternate Director. Elections for those positions will be in February.

At the AR meeting this evening, we met in the round to discuss the CBA, police concerns, provided a hand out for Garrity and Weingarten rights, locations needing ARs, NEA-SF Budget review and vote, reminder that staff are paid during personal prep for IEPs, staff needing to fill out timesheets for meetings and after school events that go beyond contract, attending staff meetings- must be held before or after contract not during PLC time, if PLC time extends beyond work day you get paid. increasing membership, future grievance writing training, increased the stipend for ARs to attend AR meetings, and more!

Learn to become an advocate, engage with and build community at this year's Communities of Action, Solutions, & Advancement (CASA) Institute at Santa Fe Community College on October 10th.

This year's CASA Institute will include breakout sessions about building financial foundations, reimagining education & workforce development, environmental justice and more, including a panel on artificial intelligence and surveillance in the schools. The institute is FREE and lunch will be provided.

CBA Update and Review meeting informed employees about discrepancies, important changes, and when to use Garrity Rights. Thanks to those who attended and asked questions, including SFPS School Board Member District 5, Juan Blea. Many questions were answered, but there are still more we have for the district.
