A year or two ago, we were gifted one of those popular, big-name meal delivery boxes. We loved the idea of making mealtimes easier, not having to shop for ingredient, etc...
But somehowβ¦ we forgot to cancel it. π
Fast forward to this week, when to our surprise, a box showed up at our door.
It was a pretty eye-opening experience and a little reminder on why we do what we do!
Truthfully, a lot of the produce was wilted, bruised, or simply not usable and needed to be thrown away. Some of it looked like it had been sitting around for quite a while before making its way to us.
And it really made us stop and think about what we want The Chef Pantry to be.
We don't want to send you food that has traveled who-knows-how-far, been sitting in a warehouse, and arrived at your door hoping you'll find something salvageable.
We're a small, local, family-run business. Adam shops around for quality local ingredients, we work with fresh products, and we prepare your meals in small batches right here in our community. We care about what goes into your food because we're feeding *our* family too.
Is that always the easiest or cheapest way to do things? Nope.
But it's important to us.
Fresh ingredients. Scratch-made food. Small batches. No shortcuts.
And this week, getting that box on our doorstep was actually a pretty good reminder of why we're so proud to do things differently.
Thanks for choosing small. Thanks for choosing local. And thanks for trusting us to feed your families! π
