She checked on me often. I could tell she was busy, but she made sure to carve out time for me and make me feel heard.”

Harborview Medical Center researchers are studying a new approach to treating severe burns.

The PREEVEnT study looks at whether giving plasma soon after a patient arrives at the hospital can improve health outcomes. Plasma is already used in burn care, but usually later in treatment.

The Pioneer Square Downtown Field Team has been honored with the Heart of Harborview Team Award for their commitment to advancing health equity and supporting vulnerable communities.

Nurses on this team are committed to providing care to all patients, regardless of background or circumstances, by expanding access and reducing barriers to improve health outcomes. They actively work to address and reduce implicit bias in healthcare, particularly among the mission population they serve. In partnership with community programs, they help coordinate life-saving surgeries for unhoused clients and ensure those individuals have safe places to recover.

This team also prioritizes caring for one another. They foster a strong sense of belonging by checking in throughout the day and into the evening, especially following safety events. Through connection, support, and a shared sense of humor, they navigate the challenges of their work while protecting their own well-being.

Congratulations to the Neuroscience nursing team for receiving the 2026 Nursing Team of the Year Award!

This team exemplifies Harborview’s mission through exceptional clinical expertise, adaptability, and a deep commitment to evidence-based patient-centered care. Nurses on this unit routinely care for patients requiring advanced neurological monitoring and interventions, including hypertonic saline infusions, lumbar drains for normal pressure hydrocephalus workups, and epilepsy patients with stereo electroencephalogram leads. These specialized therapies require strong clinical judgment, meticulous monitoring and seamless coordination across disciplines. ​

The Neuroscience team ensures these complex treatments are delivered safely while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

We are proud to celebrate Molly Bosch on being named Harborview's Nurse of the Year, a well-deserved recognition of extraordinary compassion and dedication.

Molly takes care of the most vulnerable and marginalized populations in our community; those struggling with substance use disorders, chronic and severe mental illnesses, a lack of housing, or no family or social supports. Molly consistently shows up with absolute love and compassion for her patients, wherever they may be. Anywhere from a shelter to sites of incarceration, to tents or encampments. She approaches each person with kindness, patience and humor. She creates a rapport that encourages even the most medically anxious patients to become willing to consider accessing care.

In addition to her full-time role, she also regularly volunteers at shelters and with Nightwatch. She does this with unwavering grace.
