Let's talk concussions, Part 7! 🧠
It's extremely important to avoid any activities that could result in bumping your head again for 7-14 days after the initial injury.
This includes:
🚫 physical contact with other people (contact sports, dancing, partnering)
🚫 contact with equipment/flying objects (tennis, baseball frisbee)
🚫 sudden/jarring movements (impact sports, gymnastics, diving, slamming on the brakes)
🚫 contact with stationary objects (cabinets, doorways, the undersides of tables)
Any new impacts during this time increase your risk of an additional brain injury or death via second impact syndrome.
While it's important to be careful, it is equally important to get oxygen and blood flow to your brain via cardio. Stationary biking, walking, and arm biking are great, low risk activities to try.
