The Ski PT - Greg Louie Helping skiers resolve their pain so they spend more time making turns with friends and family

I'm a Doctor of Physical Therapy with extensive post-doctoral training. I have experience working with skiers, and even have experience treating high level athletes (including those competing at the olympic level). I strive to provide the same level of care for the world's elite athletes and you! My goal is to help you get back to the ski hill FASTER so you don't have to miss out on your upcoming ski trip/outing.

💾 You’re gonna want to save this one and send it to your ski buddies!

This is…SKI SPECIFIC TRAINING!!

✅ Do each of these as a circuit to failure and repeat the circuit 3-4x (I recommend doing this x2 a week)
1. Hanging oblique crunches
2. Copenhagen bridges
3. Side plank bridges
4. Seated oblique crunches
5. Single leg lateral hops
6. Squats with R/L bias

If you’re not training to meet the demands of skiing, you’re leaving room for error (especially if you’re coming back from injury)

That’s why I test for ski readiness, to KNOW instead of ASSUME a skier is ready to return to the slopes after injury

If you’ve never had this testing done and are concerned about your ability to ski, this is what my Return to SNOW program is built around

📲 To learn more about this testing for your return to skiing, message me “RETURN”

📲 Comment “Return” if you want to prep for ski season like my client

In the Return to SNOW Method, I help you overcome injury by testing what is driving the pain/injury and building a program based on the test results

Because retesting is key to know if you’re making progress towards being ski-ready, you’ll know when you’re ready instead of assuming you’re ready and risking reinjury.

That’s exactly what we did with my client and as you can see, in 3 short months she made incredible progress which is giving her the confidence and performance metrics needed to safely return to skiing (and ideally pain free

📲 If you’re injured and want to learn more about how the Return to SNOW program helps you be ski-ready for this season, comment “RETURN”

Not sure if I’m the only one, but I can’t find myself sitting down to watch a TV show or movie

Instead, I’m usually working on the business, trying to get outside, or trying to learn something new about skiing, rehab, or personal finance

Sure, I miss out on a lot of the social references in conversation and am terrible at trivia, but I just personally don’t find sitting and watching a TV show or movie that enjoyable (sports are a different story)

So if you’re here to find the best exercises to prevent ACL Tear, this is what I’d recommend:

1. Heavy resistance squats to build leg strength

2. Multi-directional single leg pogo hops to build stability and endurance of the leg

3. Single leg drops off an elevated surface in multi direction focusing on sticking the landing for coordination and stability

If I could go back and tell 7 year old me what the future looked like, I’ll tell younger Greg this…

1. When you compare yourself to others and feel inferior, that’s okay because it’s what sets you apart

2. Be thankful to have the opportunity to learn how to ski as a kid. Even though you’re not as good as some of those around you, there’s many kids that never get the opportunity you’re given

3. If you’re denied an opportunity to do something that you’ve dreamed of, don’t give up. It doesn’t mean you’re not worthy of the opportunity, it just means the timing isn’t right

4. You don’t have to prove yourself and try to be something you’re not. In fact, the more you try to be “that guy” the more you’ll lose sight of who you really are.

5. Serve people with the gifts God gave you and know that your worth isn’t based on the approval of others

6. The currency of your business is not how much revenue you generate or how many followers/likes you have, but the relationships you’ll develop along the way and how you’ll impact lives through the opportunities you’re given

7. Swallow your pride, be willing to surrender everything you’ve built (cause in the end you don’t “own” any of this), and you’ll feel freedom in what you do.

8. There is no “winning” in life or business, so enjoy the present time instead of worrying about the future, oh and be sure you’re having fun along the way

😡 People hate on the bosu ball, but I think it’s one of the best ways you get a workout for skiers 🏋🏻‍♂️

Here why each of the featured exercises are important:
🔹 Bosu Squats - help with establishing balance through the full range of motion
🔹Single leg RDL - helps build fore-aft balance
🔹Single leg squat with lateral reach - help build balance in the sagittal and frontal plane and mimics positions of carving
🔹Agility cross overs - to mimic carves short turns and build agility to get from side to side quickly
🔹 Iso squat with rockers - builds endurance of the legs while shifting weight like side to side that is commonly needed for skiing powder

These are just a ways I incorporate Ski specific training to help clients recover from injury and prevent subsequent injury via my Return to SNOW method

I believe if you’re not training for the demands of the mountain, you’re risking injury and that’s the gap the Return to SNOW method fills
