Uneven hips, twisted spine, or legs out of place can throw off the entire exercise.
Alignment is what makes Pilates effective and safe.

It creates unnecessary tension and takes focus away from the muscles you’re trying to work.

Keep your shoulders relaxed and heavy, especially during arm movements.

When your lower back lifts off the mat without intention, your core is not doing its job. This can put unnecessary strain on your spine and reduce the effectiveness of the exercise.

Think about keeping a neutral spine or gently pressing your lower back down when needed. Engage your abs before you move.

If you’re rushing or swinging through exercises, you’re missing the point. Pilates is built on control and precision. Momentum takes the work out of the muscles you’re trying to strengthen.
