For every 100 low-income renter households, there are only 35 affordable and available rental homes.

That is the reality facing communities across the country, and it is why projects like Opportunity Village matter.

Goodwill Kentucky is proud to celebrate the financial closing of Opportunity Village, a new 76-unit affordable housing development in west Louisville and to serve as a co-developer on a project designed to connect housing with opportunity.

Located near Norton West Louisville Hospital and our West Louisville Opportunity Center, Opportunity Village will help connect future residents to more than housing. It will place them near services, resources and pathways to opportunity right in their neighborhood.

We’re grateful to the many partners helping bring this project to life, including developer Woda Cooper Companies, Inc.; syndicator Marble Cliff Capital; construction lender First Financial Bank; permanent lender Atkins Savings Bank & Trust; state housing agency Kentucky Housing Corporation; and the Louisville Affordable Housing Trust Fund, funded by the mayor and Louisville Metro Council.

We can’t wait to welcome Opportunity Village home to west Louisville.

Did you realize 1 out of every 10 veterans that seek care at the VA fit the criteria for Substance Use Disorder? Realizing how many veterans affected by this disease may hopefully help end the prejudice and stigma that often accompany this condition.

Active-duty and retired members of the armed forces can also face substance use problems. More than one in 10 Veterans who seek care at the U.S. Veteran’s Administration meet the criteria to be diagnosed with a substance use disorder—slightly higher than the rate among the general population.
