KPBSD Weather Update –

Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is aware of the storm system traveling north from the south, which is expected to impact the Kenai Peninsula mid-morning. The projected arrival aligns with our regular decision-making timeframe.

We are actively monitoring conditions and are in communication with site-based administrators in the Central, Eastern and Southern Areas, the Alaska Department of Transportation, the Kenai Peninsula Borough, and First Student to assess road and travel conditions.

As a reminder, parents and guardians are the best decision-makers for their child’s safety. If conditions at your location are unsafe, please make the choice that is right for your family.

We will continue to monitor the storm throughout the day and will communicate promptly if there are any impacts to school schedules, including delays or closures, for Friday, January 16, 2026.
