Time to CELEBRATE!!!

Maddy Fox – DSP Certification Achievement

Maddy Fox has earned her Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certification, a significant achievement that reflects her dedication to the individuals she supports and to the direct support profession as a whole.
Throughout the certification process, Maddy demonstrated perseverance and a strong commitment to learning. One of the greatest challenges she faced was navigating the different websites and communication modalities required for the program. With support from Liz Gerken Miller , who helped her stay accountable, navigate the process, and provided real-world examples, Maddy was able to successfully complete this important milestone.
Maddy shared that through this experience, she “found new ways of supporting the person I work with and learned that what I was taught was outdated and needed a refresher.” She also offered meaningful advice to others, saying, “Ask for help. People want you to succeed, whether at work or in classes.”
This accomplishment reflects Maddy’s hard work, professionalism, and commitment to continuous growth. We congratulate Maddy on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to make in her role as a DSP.

A huge win for Alaska’s infants, toddlers, and families! After more than 12 years of advocacy, SB178 has officially passed.

This legislation expands eligibility for Alaska’s Early Intervention and Infant Learning Programs, helping pave the way for more children to access developmental services and support during the most important years of growth and development. While implementation is still ahead, this milestone brings us one step closer to reaching more children sooner and giving more families access to the resources they need. At Frontier Community Services’ Infant Learning Program, we see every day how powerful early intervention can be. We are incredibly grateful to the advocates, providers, families, and legislators who worked tirelessly to make this moment possible.

Today, we celebrate a brighter future for Alaska’s children.

Big news for Alaska! Self-Direction is coming, and this is an important opportunity for participants, families, caregivers, providers, care coordinators, and service representatives to learn more and share their voices.

Self-Direction can give individuals more choice and control over the supports and services they receive. These community conversations are a chance to ask questions, give input, and help shape how self-direction will work in Alaska.

We had a blast at the Wednesday market’s annual family day today!☀️ The Infant Learning Program and FASD Clinic had a great time joining families for an afternoon centered around learning through play. From bubbles and shaving cream sensory bins to conversations with parents and caregivers, there was no shortage of smiles, laughter, and messy fun. We loved seeing familiar faces, meeting new families, sharing resources, and connecting with our community. It was also ILP’s first time using our hearing and vision screening tent at an event, and we’re happy to report it was a success! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, played, asked questions, and spent part of your day with us. Events like these are such a great reminder of the importance of community, connection, and giving children opportunities to learn through play.

Some days be like this.

Laptop balanced, papers falling out of the visor, answering messages between stops, trying to keep the the work moving forward.

It’s not always pretty, but it gets done.

Field work, paperwork, car office, chaos management all in one shift. 😂

Just another day of making it happen.
