Today, we got to celebrate something truly special Grayson Caudill is graduating high school. 🎓
I honestly cannot put into words how proud we are of this young man.
Ashleigh his CSA had the privilege of working alongside Grayson for nearly 5 years, and during that time she has watched him overcome challenge after challenge with determination, patience, humor, and strength. Many people see a graduation and think about the hard work that goes into schoolwork, tests, and assignments but for Grayson, there has been an entirely different layer added to every single step of that journey.
While working toward his diploma, Grayson has also spent years learning how to navigate the world as a legally blind individual and building the skills needed for greater independence in everyday life. Together, him and Ashleigh have practiced and applied braille skills in real-world settings learning letters, numbers, punctuation, fractions, temperatures, and time in braille, while also using those skills in everyday activities like cooking with braille measuring cups, organizing medications with tactile systems, folding bills to identify money independently, and navigating stores and community settings with his white cane.
We also want to recognize Lisa Donnelly and Bridgett Chowning, for the incredible amount of love, time, encouragement, and dedication they have poured into Grayson’s journey over the years. They have consistently gone above and beyond to help support his growth, independence, and success, and the impact they have made in his life is impossible to measure. It truly takes people willing to believe in someone wholeheartedly to help make milestones like this possible.
Grayson, I hope you realize just how proud everyone is of you. Your graduation represents so much more than finishing school it represents years of hard work, persistence, courage, adaptability, and growth. Watching you reach this milestone has been incredibly emotional and rewarding, and I cannot wait to see where life takes you next.
Congratulations, graduate. You earned every bit of this moment. 🖤🎓
