I got a massage from a robot… and I loved it. 😳
On my recent trip to Denver, I decided to try out some new technology. I was greeted by the staff and guided into the treatment room, where they had my massage “outfit” laid out for me: a skin-tight long sleeve shirt and leggings.
Once I got settled face down on the table, I used the iPad underneath the face cradle to customize the whole session. I could select my goals, areas of extra focus, pressure, music, and even the screen “scenery.” It also gave a full breakdown of the session, including timing and techniques for each area of the body.
The robotic arms/knobs were heated (which honestly felt amazing), and the iPad mirrored where the arms were at all times throughout the massage. I could adjust the pressure whenever I wanted, too.
The Aescape technology worked on my back, hips/glutes, hamstrings, and calves. Sadly, scalp, face, neck, hands, arms, and feet weren’t available options — which makes me wonder if that’s to come in the future of robotic massage.
Would I do it again? Honestly… yes. For traveling, it was actually a really nice option. I got 30 minutes of bodywork without having to quickly build rapport with someone new I’d likely never see again. It felt easy, efficient, and surprisingly relaxing. Perfect quick recovery after multiple days spent hiking. A bonus is you’re guaranteed a quiet session.
