Dorothy Brubaker Womack

Dorothy Brubaker Womack went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2026, surrounded by her children. She was 75. Her passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, but her memory and the love she gave so freely will live on through the many lives she touched.

Dorothy was the beloved daughter of the late John F. Brubaker and the late Martha Brubaker Schenck. She was a woman of tremendous strength, compassion, and devotion to her family and her community. Throughout her life, Dorothy found purpose in serving others and giving of herself whenever she was needed.

She was a former member of the Cluster Springs Fire Department and the Halifax County Rescue Squad, where she dedicated herself to helping others. Dorothy retired from ABB on April 26, 2016, after a career marked by hard work and commitment. During her time there, she served on the Safety Committee and hazardous Waste Committee and also worked as an EMT and medical volunteer. Her willingness to help others was not simply something she did—it was a reflection of the kind of person she was.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, John F. Brubaker and Martha Brubaker Schenck; her stepfather, Everett Schenck; her stepbrother, Robert Schenck; and her beloved son, Keith Christopher Womack.

She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her surviving children: Billie Jo Davis; Martha Paige Williams (Brian); Kimberly Gail Lowery (Jared); and Jonathan Everrett Womack (Melissa). She is also survived by her brother, Richard Brubaker (Vicki), along with her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and extended family, all of whom she loved dearly.

Dorothy’s family was the center of her world. She cherished every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her love for them will continue to be felt for generations to come. The lessons she taught, the strength she showed, and the love she gave will remain a lasting part of her family’s story.

She also leaves behind many special friends who held a treasured place in her heart, including Joe Hatcher, her extended family at Staunton River State Park, her friends at the VFW Post 8163 and the wonderful people and animals connected to Lake Country SPCA.

Dorothy lived a life of service, compassion, love, and devotion. She was someone who showed up when others needed her, cared deeply for those around her, and gave her time and heart generously. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the impact she made will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial donations be made in Dorothy’s honor to either the Lake Country SPCA or the VFW post 8163, two organizations that held a special place in her heart.
