As a pediatric PT + mom, I actually LOVE this technique for some little ones 👏🏼🤍
Why? Because it supports babies in a way that often helps them feel more calm, regulated, and comfortable while still allowing them to work on important developmental skills.
✨ Keeping the arms tucked closer to the body can help decrease that “flailing” feeling some babies get when they’re uncomfortable or dysregulated.
✨ The slight incline can also reduce some of the straining/frustration babies feel when flat on the floor, especially for kiddos who struggle with reflux, tension, or simply dislike traditional tummy time.
✨ And most importantly? Baby stays close, supported, and connected to you… which can make movement feel safer and more enjoyable.
Remember: tummy time does NOT have to look one specific way 🙌🏼 There are so many functional, developmentally supportive alternatives that still help babies build strength, body awareness, and confidence.
Send this to your mom friends so they can try it out!
