Sparta Chiropractic and Wellness Center

Sparta Chiropractic and Wellness Center We've been delivering quality chiropractic care to the Sparta area since November 2002. Here in our Sparta office, we are patient advocates.

Dr. Eric Loewrigkeit lives by the expression “when you love what you do, you don’t work a day in your life.” We try to create a positively high energy and upbeat experience for every patient that walks into Sparta Chiropractic and Wellness Center. As a result, we've built long lasting relationships with our patients, who usually also end up bringing their friends and family in for care. Our job is

to give the patient what they want so whether it’s just a matter of feeling better or wanting wellness to be part of their lives, if they’re happy, we're happy. Any relationship needs to be win-win in order to be successful. Patients who want to be actively involved in their progress by far do the best. They get the best results, need the least amount of care and end up spending less money.

A scientist in Japan demonstrated that the air inside a forest can strengthen your immune system for a full month.

Immunologist Qing Li of Nippon Medical School in Tokyo took 12 men on a three-day forest trip consisting of slow walks with no special breathing exercises or set routes.

Blood tests afterward showed a clear surge in natural killer cells — the immune cells that help the body fight viruses and cancerous cells.

The elevated levels were still measurable 30 days later.

A controlled group that walked the same distance through a city showed no change at all.

Pine, cedar, and cypress trees release airborne compounds called phytoncides as a natural defense. When people breathe them in, these compounds appear to activate immune cells.

Li’s research suggests that one forest walk a month may be enough to keep those cells elevated throughout the year.

Sometimes the best medicine does not require a prescription — just time among the trees.

Trying to lose weight? The common advice to eat six small meals a day to control hunger is actually making things worse for your body.
Every time you eat, regardless of what it is, you increase insulin. Constantly eating throughout the day keeps your insulin levels elevated, preventing your body from tapping into its own fat stores for energy. This means you'll always be hungry and dependent on the food you're eating for fuel.
This advice traps you in a cycle of hunger and cravings, and when you can't adhere to it, they blame your willpower. But the real problem is the continuous rise in insulin.
Instead, a much better strategy is intermittent fasting. By allowing longer periods between meals, your insulin levels drop, and your body can finally utilize its own fat as a sustainable and superior fuel source.

How Orthotics and Chiropractic Care Work Together

Orthotics and chiropractic care are often used together because they address musculoskeletal issues from different but complementary angles — one from the foundation (feet), the other from the spine and joints.

1. Addressing the “Foundation” and “Structure”
Your feet are the body’s foundation. Poor foot mechanics — such as flat arches, overpronation, or uneven weight distribution — can cause compensations up through the knees, hips, & spine.

Custom orthotics provide a stable, personalized support system that corrects foot alignment, improves gait, and reduces strain on joints.

Chiropractic adjustments focus on correcting misalignments in the spine, pelvis, and other joints, improving nerve function and movement patterns.

2. Reinforcing Alignment
Chiropractic care can realign the spine and pelvis, but if the feet remain imbalanced, the body may revert to old compensations. Orthotics help maintain that alignment by stabilizing the base of support, so adjustments last longer and prevent recurring issues!

3. Improving Posture and Reducing Pain

Orthotics address posture from the ground up by neutralizing rotational forces that travel up the kinetic chain.

Chiropractic care corrects postural imbalances in the spine and pelvis, which can cause forward head posture, neck pain, or uneven shoulders.
Together, they can reduce pain in the feet, knees, hips, back, and neck, and improve overall posture.

4. Enhancing Movement and Function
By combining both, patients often see:

Better gait and walking mechanics~

Longer-lasting adjustments and faster pain relief~

Prevention of future alignment problems by correcting root causes~

5. When to Consider Both
This combination is especially effective for:

Chronic back, neck, or joint pain with poor foot mechanics

Postural imbalances linked to foot alignment

Gait abnormalities or leg length discrepancies

Conditions like plantar fasciitis, flat feet, or overpronation that contribute to spinal strain.

Bottom line: Orthotics and chiropractic care work best as a whole-body approach — orthotics stabilize the foundation, and chiropractic care aligns the structure built on it. This “alignment from the ground up” can lead to more lasting results and better overall musculoskeletal health😀
