We caught a few of our Med-Surg nurses for pictures, but this thank you is for the whole team, on every shift.

During Medical-Surgical Nurses Week, we are celebrating the nurses who help patients through their hospital stay at Roane General Hospital.

There’s a lot happening in their care: watching for changes, managing medications, helping someone get back on their feet and making sure families understand what comes next. There are also the moments patients remember long after they go home like when a nurse takes a concern seriously or offers reassurance during a difficult night.

To our Med-Surg nurses, pictured and not pictured, we’re grateful for your knowledge, your hard work and the way you care for our neighbors. We’re fortunate to have you at RGH.

Please join us in thanking them. A few words from a patient, family member or coworker can mean a lot.

“You can always tell when Tonya has been there.”

It’s something we hear about Tonya Butcher, this quarter’s Rising Spirit Award winner. As a member of our Housekeeping team, Tonya takes pride in her work, leaving spaces spotless with meticulous attention to detail. The care she puts into her job is noticed and appreciated throughout Roane General Hospital.

And that care extends to the people around her.

Tonya stops to walk patients and families where they need to go, answers call lights and helps prepare overflow space when the Emergency Department is full. When coworkers can’t get away for a break, she brings them a meal. She even keeps treats in her pockets for our Long-Term Care residents, knowing which favorites will bring a smile.

After being nominated last quarter, Tonya received four more nominations this quarter from coworkers across several departments. Their stories describe someone who works hard, brings a positive attitude and pitches in wherever she sees a need.

CEO Doug Bentz presented Tonya with her award during our monthly department managers meeting, a chance to recognize the hard work and kindness so many of her coworkers see every day.

Tonya, the results of your hard work are easy to see. So is the kindness behind it. Thank you for taking such good care of our hospital and the people in it. Congratulations!

We work with these people every day, and somehow they still manage to surprise us.

Our RGH employees showed up with plenty of Halloween spirit today. We’ll let the pictures tell the rest, because some of these really do deserve a closer look.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and gave your coworkers something to smile about. It’s good to have a little fun with the people you spend so much of your week with.

Have a safe and fun Halloween weekend! Enjoy the costumes, sneak a little candy and watch out for those trick-or-treaters.

Take a look through and tell us which costume made you smile!

Halloween is always a little more special when we can celebrate it together! 🎃

On Thursday, October 29, our Long Term Care Unit hosted a Pumpkin Decorating Contest, with both hospital departments and residents joining in. We were so impressed by the creativity, imagination, and fun that went into each entry!

Congratulations to our top three:

🥇 1st Place: Charlie Brown’s Great Pumpkin
🥈 2nd Place: The Chicken
🥉 3rd Place: Dolly Parton

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who participated and helped bring some Halloween joy to our Long Term Care Unit. Activities like these create special moments, plenty of smiles, and wonderful memories for our residents. 🧡
