Can we talk about what lymphatic drainage actually does? 👀
I see so much content out there focused on contouring and “instant slimming” results, and I get why! it’s eye-catching! (A girl wants that every now and then~)
But that’s not really what this work is about, and I think it’s worth being honest about that.
When I work on someone, sometimes you’ll see areas look less puffy and more defined — that’s lymph moving, fluid decongesting, things draining the way they’re supposed to. But sometimes what you’ll see is areas looking softer, fuller, more relaxed — and that’s not a bad thing either. That’s tension and adhesion releasing. That’s tissue that was gripped and tight finally getting to let go.
Both of those are signs the work is doing what it’s supposed to do. Neither one is “more correct” than the other.
My goal with manual lymphatic drainage (and even with my vacuum sessions) isn’t to chase a specific aesthetic outcome. It’s to support what your body already knows how to do~ circulation, drainage, release.
Sometimes that looks like depuffing. Sometimes it looks like softening. Sometimes both, in different areas, in the same session.
So if you come in expecting to walk out looking dramatically smaller and instead you feel lighter, less tense, more like yourself…that’s not a miss. That’s the work 🤲🏻
