๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire Resource Update for Our Community โค๏ธ
For those impacted by the wildfires, here are a few important resources currently available:

๐Ÿ  Emergency Shelters: The American Red Cross is providing shelter, meals, and emergency assistance for evacuees. You can find the nearest open shelter by going to redcross.org or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767). The Spokane Convention Center is also serving as an evacuation shelter, and pets are welcome.

๐Ÿพ Help for Evacuated Animals: The Spokane County Fairgrounds (404 N. Havana St.) is accepting displaced animals and RVs with animals. Enter through the Red Gate off Broadway.

๐Ÿ’™ Support for Pets in Need: SpokAnimal is caring for displaced pets and is currently accepting donations of dog food, cat food, blankets, towels, and monetary donations to support animals affected by the fires.

Need a Medication Refill? If your regular veterinary clinic is temporarily closed due to the fires, the doctors at Pet Emergency Clinic are happy to help bridge the gap by filling maintenance medications whenever possible. To do so, we'll need approval from your regular veterinarian. We ask that your primary veterinary clinic email us confirming your pet has been examined by one of their veterinarians within the past six months and authorizing the refill request.

PLEASE SHARE THIS POST TO ANYONE WHO MAY NEED IT.

Our hearts are with everyone affected by these fires, and we're committed to helping both our community and their pets however we can. Stay safe, Spokane. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

If you are in immediate need of shelter during a disaster, use our shelter map to locate your nearest options or contact your local Red Cross chapter.

It has come to our attention that statements have been made on various pages alleging that our clinic turned away an animal in need on Saturday morning.

After thoroughly reviewing the situation, we determined that the handling of this matter by the individual involved did not meet our expectations. We have addressed the issue internally and have taken appropriate corrective actions, including reinforcing our procedures and communication processes, to help ensure a similar situation does not occur again.

This weekend has been unprecedented for our community, and the ongoing wildfires have created an extraordinarily challenging and rapidly changing environment. While there was no intent to refuse care, we recognize that the situation did not reflect the level of service and compassion our community expects from us or that we expect from ourselves.

We want to reassure our community that we are caring for animals affected by these fires and remain committed to doing everything we can to provide appropriate medical care, reunite lost pets with their families, and support our community during this difficult time.

We appreciate the grace, understanding, and support shown by so many as we continue to navigate these challenging circumstances together.

08/03/2026

Our hearts are with everyone in the Spokane community who has been affected by the recent fire. We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and neighbors impacted by this tragedy.

We also want to remind our community that we are here for you and your pets during this difficult time.

**If you find a lost or stray pet**
We can scan every stray pet for a microchip and will do everything we can to help reunite them with their family. If the pet is found within Spokane County, we also encourage you to contact SCRAPS, as they are the local animal protection agency and have the best resources to assist with lost and found pets.

If a stray pet requires immediate emergency medical attention, we have established protocols with SCRAPS and work closely with our local shelter partners and rescues to ensure they receive the care they need while determining the best path forward for continued treatment.

As our hospital experiences periods of exceptionally high patient volume, every patient receives an initial medical assessment. If our veterinary team determines that a patient is stable and does not require immediate emergency treatment, we may recommend follow-up care with a primary care veterinarian. This approach allows us to prioritize our emergency resources for pets experiencing urgent or life-threatening conditions while ensuring every patient receives the most appropriate ongoing care.

We also ask for your patience and understanding during this time. Some of our own doctors and staff have been personally impacted by these fires, and as a result, we are currently operating with a very limited team. Despite these challenges, our staff continue to show incredible dedication to caring for every patient who comes through our doors.

Our doctors and staff remain committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to pets in need and supporting our community throughout this challenging time. Thank you for your kindness, patience, and support as we navigate this together.

Meet Luke! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™

Luke recently visited Pet Emergency Clinic for a series of laser therapy treatments after being diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). Laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment that can help reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and support the healing process.

Luke was an absolute rockstar throughout every treatment. He remained calm, cooperative, and even seemed to enjoy wearing his protective doggy goggles! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿถ

We're honored to be a part of Luke's recovery journey and are so proud of how well he did during each visit. Join us in wishing Luke continued healing and many happy, tail-wagging days ahead! โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ
