14 years ago, Dr. Prater visited Tanzania as a chaperone for Askinosie’s Chocolate University. He helped students install a well and learn about the cocoa bean farming.

Dr. Prater has maintained a relationship with the farmers' village throughout the years and gifted them several boxes of reading glasses before his retirement.
