The CDC is investigating an increase in Cyclospora infections in several U.S. states. At this time, there is no increased risk of Cyclospora infection in Utah. A small number of Utah residents became ill after traveling to affected states.

Cyclospora is a parasite that can contaminate fresh produce and cause:
🤢 Watery diarrhea (often lasting several days or longer)
🤢 Nausea, bloating, fatigue, loss of appetite, and weight loss

🍓 Protect your family:
• Wash fresh fruits and vegetables under running water before eating—even if labeled "pre-washed."
• Cook produce when appropriate.
• Stay hydrated if diarrhea develops.

If your child has diarrhea that lasts more than a few days or keeps coming back, contact your healthcare provider. Cyclospora requires special stool testing, so it's important to mention persistent symptoms.

We'll continue to monitor updates, but for now, Utah families should continue enjoying fresh produce while practicing good food safety. 💙
