What a morning at the St. Charles County Walk to End Alzheimer’s! 💜 👟 🧠

Our Assistance Home Care Team was proud to once again sponsor the Champions Club, celebrating the incredible individuals who each raised $500 or more in support of the Alzheimer’s Association and its mission to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.

These Champions go above and beyond for this cause, and we loved starting Walk Day by celebrating them with a well-deserved breakfast with their family, friends and teammates! ☕🏅🥞

A HUGE thank you to our generous local partners, Starbucks Coffee in Cottleville and The Original Pancake House of Chesterfield, who once again donated coffee and breakfast for our Champions! 💜 For more than a decade, these local businesses have helped us celebrate the dedicated fundraisers who make the Champions Club so special. We are incredibly grateful for community partners who continue to show up year after year for families, Caregivers and the fight to against Alzheimer’s.

Special thanks to Walk Manager Mary Williams, the entire St. Charles County Walk Committee, including our very own Christina Lloyd, and all of the volunteers, sponsors, teams, families and supporters who made this morning truly special.

For Assistance Home Care, supporting the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is deeply connected to who we are. Our company was founded from our family’s personal journey with Alzheimer’s disease, and we remain committed to supporting families caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, both in their homes and throughout our community.

To every Champion who raised $500+, every person who walked, donated, volunteered or showed up in purple today: THANK YOU. 💜 Together, we’re walking toward a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.

Today, our Team is wearing purple for World Alzheimer’s Day. 💜🧠

For families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, caregiving can be filled with love, meaningful moments, difficult days, and many responsibilities.

At Assistance Home Care, we’re proud to stand with families in our community not only today, but throughout the year. We’re looking forward to supporting the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s events in St. Charles and St. Louis as we continue raising awareness, supporting caregivers, and working toward a future without Alzheimer’s.

We also know how important it is to care for the people who are providing the care. 🫶 If someone you know is caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia, they don’t have to carry every responsibility alone. Assistance Home Care is here to help with reliable, professional in-home Caregiver support that can provide families with an extra set of hands, added peace of mind, and time to simply be family.

If you're struggling, the Alzheimer's Association has a 24/7 Helpline 800-272-3900 for families and caregivers. 💜 Want to get involved in your local Walk To End Alzheimer's? Helping someone honor their wish to stay at home often takes more than just one solution... It takes a community working together. 🏡❤️

Last week, our Team had the opportunity to connect with John Freeman, Co-Founder of Bloom Healthcare, and Zoe Seemes to learn more about Bloom’s model of bringing primary medical care directly to older adults in their homes and senior living communities.

It’s an exciting approach to the challenge of aging-in-place: as the needs of older adults become more complex, families benefit when Caregivers, physicians, case managers, social workers, care managers, hospice teams, home health providers and other community partners can each bring their expertise to the table.

At Assistance Home Care, our role is centered around helping families with reliable, non-medical home care and Caregiver support. Bloom Healthcare adds another valuable resource to the aging-at-home landscape by bringing primary care closer to where seniors are, no matter the home setting.

Bloom Healthcare expanded into the St. Louis community a few months ago and our Team looks forward to seeing the impact their Team will make for local seniors and families!

Meet Shantill Nathan, our DuPage County Team’s 2026 HCAOA Caregiver of the Year Award nominee! 🎉

Over the past two years, Shantill has been part of the core Caregiver Team supporting a Client receiving 24/7 care at home, often providing overnight support several nights each week.

Over time, she has learned much more than what her Client needs. She has learned how her Client wants to live.

Shantill understands that someone can need significant assistance while still wanting control over everyday choices, routines and personal preferences. She listens, respects her Client’s independence and provides support without taking away that sense of control. 🫶

That trusted relationship became especially meaningful following a hospitalization, when returning home brought new changes and uncertainty. Shantill’s familiar presence helped provide reassurance, stability and a sense of normalcy during the transition.

Her consistency and teamwork have also earned her 2 Care Pro of the Month recognitions with Assistance Home Care in the past year!

Shantill is one of only 10 HCAOA Caregiver of the Year nominees from the state of Illinois this year, and we could not be prouder to have her representing our DuPage County Team on a national stage. ❤️

Congratulations, Shantill! 👏

Meet Julie LeCuru, our St. Louis County Team’s 2026 HCAOA Caregiver of the Year Award nominee! 🎉

With more than 20 years of caregiving experience, Julie understands that trust is rarely built in one big moment. It is built through consistency.

For one Client who had experienced frequent changes in overnight Caregivers, Julie became the familiar, dependable presence she could count on. She took the time to learn her routines, understand her preferences and create a sense of stability in a care experience that had previously felt uncertain. 🫶

Julie also knows that great care is not about taking over. She encourages her Client to remain involved, speak up when something doesn't feel right and continue doing what she can independently.

That balance of hands-on support and respect for independence is one of the reasons Julie was named a Care Pro of the Month earlier this year, and why our St. Louis Team was so proud to nominate her for this national recognition. ❤️

Julie is one of just 8 HCAOA Caregiver of the Year nominees from Missouri in 2026. 🎉

Congratulations, Julie! We are proud to have you representing our St. Louis County Team and Assistance Home Care on the national stage. 👏

Meet Janlyn Egan, our CarePlus & VA Team’s 2026 HCAOA Caregiver of the Year Award nominee! 🎉

Janlyn brings more than 40 years of caregiving experience to the families she serves, including 17 years working in hospice care.

Over four decades, she has learned something that cannot be captured by a task list: knowing when to help, when to listen and when to give someone the space to remain independent.

Her Clients describe someone who notices the details, stays calm when situations become difficult and offers support in a way that protects dignity rather than taking control.

One Client shared something that says a lot about the kind of trust Janlyn inspires. When facing challenges in her own life, she sometimes finds herself asking: “What would Janlyn do?” 🫶 That is the kind of impact that goes far beyond completing a shift.

Janlyn’s career has been built around helping people feel respected, capable and supported while continuing to live life on their own terms.

She is one of just 8 Caregiver of the Year nominees from Missouri this year, and we are so proud to see her representing our CarePlus & VA Team among Caregivers recognized across the country. ❤️

Congratulations, Janlyn! 👏

Meet Dawn McElrath, our St. Charles County Team’s 2026 HCAOA Caregiver of the Year Award nominee! 🎉

For Dawn, some of the most meaningful caregiving happens while the rest of the world is sleeping.

Since joining Assistance Home Care in 2020, Dawn has become a trusted overnight Care Professional for Clients and families who need more than someone simply present in the home. They need someone attentive, dependable and ready to respond when needs change.

Dawn understands what that trust means personally. Years before becoming a professional Caregiver, she experienced home care from the family side while helping care for her own mother during hospice. That experience shaped the way she approaches every family she serves today.

Her impact can be seen in the moments that give families a little of their lives back: a spouse feeling comfortable enough to run errands or attend his own medical appointment, a Client continuing meaningful visits with her husband, or a quiet nightly routine filled with coloring, conversation and laughter.

As Dawn says, caregiving requires empathy, patience and the understanding that “it’s their life, and they depend on you.”

Dawn is one of just 8 Caregiver of the Year nominees from Missouri this year, and we are incredibly proud to have her representing our St. Charles Team on the national stage. ❤️

Congratulations, Dawn! 👏

We are so proud to introduce Assistance Home Care’s 2026 Home Care Association of America Caregiver of the Year Award nominees! 🎉

❤️ Dawn McElrath | St. Charles County
❤️ Julie LeCuru | St. Louis County
❤️ Janlyn Egan | Ellisville, CarePlus & VA
❤️ Shantill Nathan | DuPage County

Each year, HCAOA’s Caregiver of the Year Award recognizes exceptional Caregivers from across the country who make a meaningful difference in the lives of the Clients and families they serve.

This year, 257 Caregivers were nominated nationwide, including just 8 nominees from Missouri and 10 from Illinois. We could not be prouder to see four members of the Assistance Home Care Team among them, with each of our four locations represented on the national stage. 🏆

Their nominations tell four very different stories in caregiving, but they share so much in common: years of dedication, trusted relationships with Clients and families, respect for independence and dignity, dependable teamwork, and the countless everyday moments that demonstrate what exceptional home care looks like.

In the coming days, we’ll be highlighting Dawn, Julie, Janlyn and Shantill individually and sharing a closer look at the stories and impact behind their nominations. ❤️
