This National Physical Therapy Month, we’re celebrating the incredible PTs and PTAs who make a difference every day.

From helping someone take their first steps after an injury to building strength, confidence and independence, physical therapists do so much more than provide therapy—they help people keep doing what they love.

To every PT and PTA on the EmpowerMe team and beyond: thank you for the expertise, compassion and purpose you bring to your work every day.

We’re proud to celebrate you this month and every month! 🫶

The best part of what we do? The people.

Judy and Radhika often see each other while receiving PT and OT—and somewhere along the way, their therapy journeys became a source of encouragement for one another. From celebrating progress to reminding each other how far they’ve come, their words of support are a powerful reminder that success in therapy isn't always measured in numbers.

Sometimes, it’s found in the people cheering you on.

Our EmpowerMe team, COTA Daisy Aldana, and PTA Andrew Jaggon has supported Judy through a total knee replacement and is currently helping Radhika reduce her risk of contractures while navigating ALS.

Through every challenge, milestone and moment in between, our teams are committed to making the most of every opportunity to improve the lives of those we serve.

After experiencing a fall, Mike came to EmpowerMe Wellness with one goal: to regain his independence and walk on his own again.

With determination of his own and the cheerful persistence of Bethany Markee, PTA, Mike worked through gait, balance, and endurance training—one step at a time.

By the end of therapy, Mike had built the strength, confidence, and skills to safely walk 1.5 miles independently. Most importantly, he achieved the goal he set for himself.

👏 We’re proud to celebrate Mike and the dedication it took to get him there!

What if preventing the next hospital visit starts long before a resident reaches the emergency room?

Hospital readmission prevention isn't just about what happens after a resident leaves the hospital. It starts with identifying risks earlier—changes in mobility, medication concerns, chronic conditions, fall risk, and gaps in communication.

For senior living communities, a more proactive approach can help connect the right people and services at the right time.

Our latest blog explores strategies for preventing hospital readmissions in senior living communities and how a multidisciplinary approach like can help support residents before small concerns become bigger ones.

It’s !

We feel so lucky to have incredible community partners who recognize and celebrate our therapists and the important work they do every day.

Marge has been a dancer her whole life, so Rachel Leigh, SPT brought dance into her physical therapy sessions!

Together, this dancing duo had fun while working on balance, mobility and cardio.

That’s person-centered care in action!

When Bob moved into The Kensington at Walnut Creek with his wife, he was walking only short distances with close assistance at his walker. Foot pain was also making it difficult for him to wear shoes comfortably.

After starting physical and occupational therapy, Bob has made incredible progress!

Today, he’s walking farther, moving more easily and staying more active than he was just a few months ago. His foot pain is also much more manageable after his therapy team helped him find a simple modification to improve the fit of his sneakers.

And Bob’s motivation? It’s hard to beat! He’s become a favorite among our therapy team and even likes to serenade them with a song—especially when he knows one with their name in it!

We’re so proud of Bob and all the progress he’s making. His story is a wonderful reminder that with the right support, personalized strategies and a little determination, small steps can lead to big changes.

Betty wanted to stay active and independent, but a new ankle brace created an unexpected challenge—she couldn’t put it on or take it off by herself.

Occupational therapist Julie McVeigh introduced Betty to two simple adaptive tools: a sock aid and dressing stick. With a little training, Betty learned how to independently manage her brace.

The outcome? More independence, greater confidence, and the ability to keep walking safely.

This is the power of occupational therapy: finding practical solutions that help people keep doing what matters most.

Fall prevention is about more than avoiding falls—it’s about helping older adults feel strong, confident, and capable in their everyday lives.

We’re proud to partner with communities to provide education, encouragement, and practical strategies that support safer movement and greater independence.

A big thank you to Scott for helping make fall prevention an empowering conversation for Vitalia Senior Residences Westlake residents.

September is Fall Prevention Month!

Our friend Scott with EmpowerMe Wellness gathered our residents together for an informative and encouraging conversation about fall prevention, ways we can reduce our risk of falling, and the importance of maintaining a confident mindset that reminds us we are strong, capable, and resilient! 💪🏻

Along with helpful tips and real-life stories, Scott shared an important takeaway: the way we carry ourselves and the mindset we have can play a powerful role in our overall health and fall prevention.

Thank you so much, Scott, for sharing your knowledge, encouragement, and support and for always being there to help our residents stay strong, confident, and healthy! ❤️
