Something a lot of people don't know: herpes tests have a window period, and testing too soon can give you a result that doesn't tell the full story.

Herpes blood tests look for IgG antibodies — the proteins your immune system makes after exposure. But those antibodies take time to build up. The CDC recommends waiting at least 12 to 16 weeks after a potential exposure before testing, because testing earlier may not yet detect an infection that is actually there.

This isn't a flaw in the test. It's just how the immune system works. Testing at the right time means your result is far more likely to reflect your actual status.

If you're unsure when to test or what your result means, a licensed physician can help you make sense of it. We make it easy to order a herpes IgG blood test on your own schedule — fast, private, secure — so you have the information you need when the time is right.

A lot of people assume their annual physical covers everything. You get your blood pressure checked, maybe a cholesterol panel, and the doctor says you look good. But here is something most people are never told: a standard physical almost never includes STD screening unless you specifically ask for it.

The CDC recommends routine STD testing for sexually active adults, yet those tests are rarely ordered automatically. That means you can leave your yearly checkup feeling reassured and still be carrying an infection you know nothing about. Many STDs, including chlamydia and gonorrhea, show no symptoms at all.

Ordering your own targeted screening is one of the most straightforward ways to actually know where you stand. No referral needed, no awkward conversation to hope goes well. Fast, private, secure results, usually within one to two business days.

If you want a solid starting point, our Basic Testing Panel covers chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, and syphilis in one order: https://www.rschealth.com/products/basic-panel

Here is something most people starting a GLP-1 medication never hear from anyone: the drug is only part of the equation. What happens inside your body while you are on it matters just as much as the weight you are losing on the scale.

GLP-1 medications can affect your liver enzymes, blood sugar regulation, cholesterol levels, and thyroid markers. Yet a lot of people go months without checking any of it. They feel fine, so they assume everything is fine. Those two things are not the same.

Baseline labs before you start, and follow-up panels while you are on it, give you an actual picture of what is happening. Not a guess. If something shifts in your kidney function or lipid levels, you want to know early, not after symptoms show up.

We built a GLP-1 Monitoring Panel specifically for this. No referral needed, results usually in 1 to 2 business days, and the price is straightforward. If you are on a GLP-1 and you have not checked your labs recently, this is worth a look: https://www.rschealth.com/products/glp-1-monitoring-panel

250 years ago, a group of people decided they deserved the freedom to make their own choices. That idea still matters today.

One of the choices we think every American deserves is the ability to know what is going on inside their own body, without needing permission or paying a fortune to find out. No referrals. No runaround. Just answers.

This Independence Day, we are celebrating the freedom to take charge of your own health. Order your lab tests directly, get results fast, and move forward with confidence.

Happy 4th of July from all of us at RSC Health. Here is to 250 years of independence, and to the freedom to put your health first.

A lot of people finish their STD treatment and assume that's the end of it. But treatment and clearance are two different things.

Some infections, like chlamydia and gonorrhea, can persist even after a full course of antibiotics in some cases. The CDC actually recommends a follow-up test — sometimes called a "test of cure" — for certain infections, especially during pregnancy or if symptoms continue.

Three things worth knowing:

1. Finishing medication does not always mean the infection is gone.
2. You can retest without a doctor's referral through a direct-access lab.
3. Getting confirmation protects both you and your partners.

If it has been a few weeks since you finished treatment and you never got a follow-up test, that is worth looking into. Fast, private, secure testing is available, and results are typically ready within a few business days.

Consult a licensed physician to discuss your specific situation and next steps.

A lot of people pay a specialist copay just to get a cholesterol recheck ordered. The appointment, the wait, the bill — and all you needed was a simple lab draw.

We connect you directly to the same certified labs your doctor uses. No referral required. You order the test, visit a nearby draw site, and get your results online. Fast, private, secure.

It is worth knowing where your LDL, HDL, and triglycerides stand — especially if you are managing an ongoing condition or just want to stay ahead of things. The CDC notes that nearly 94 million U.S. adults have borderline high cholesterol, and many do not know it.

If your results raise questions, we always recommend following up with a licensed physician. But getting the numbers in hand? That part does not have to cost you an extra appointment.

Here is something that comes up more than most people realize. Someone gets tested, life gets busy, and the follow-up never happens. The results sit in an inbox, or the retest window passes, and the whole thing just stays unresolved.

That open loop matters. Some infections, like chlamydia and gonorrhea, are recommended for retesting 3 months after treatment because reinfection is common, according to the CDC. A single test at one point in time only tells you what was happening that day.

The good news is that closing that loop does not require a doctor's referral, a long wait, or a complicated process. Fast, private, secure retesting is available on your schedule, and results are typically ready within days.

If you started the process but never finished it, that is not a failure. It just means there is still a simple step left to take. We are here when you are ready.

A customer reached out a few months ago and told us he had been meaning to get his PSA checked for two years. He kept putting it off because he assumed a test ordered on his own would not carry the same weight as one ordered by a doctor. He figured a urologist would just want to run it again.

That is a common concern, and it makes sense. But here is the reality: a PSA result from a CLIA-certified lab is the same number, measured the same way, whether a physician ordered it or you did. When he finally brought his results to his urologist, the conversation started right there.

Getting the data is the first step. You cannot have a real conversation about your prostate health without a baseline number in hand. For men over 40, or those with a family history, that number matters.

If you have been waiting for the right moment, this is it. Order your PSA panel directly, get highly accurate results from a certified lab, and walk into any follow-up appointment already informed. No referral needed to get started.
