The Moog Center for Deaf Education

The Moog Center for Deaf Education A listening and spoken language program serving children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The Moog Center provides a supportive and stimulating learning environment for children who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families. From the time we begin working with children and their families, our program focuses on helping the children learn to use spoken language well enough for that to be their means of communicating. Our emphasis on very young children underlines our belief in capi

talizing on the critical learning period for language, namely birth to early elementary years. In addition to programs for children, we provide distance mentoring online to teachers and other professionals working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing. We conduct workshops and share our successful techniques with other professionals throughout the United States, Canada, and South America via our Professional Education and Outreach Programs. Our staff also regularly engages in applied research projects to inform best practices, improve outcomes, educate others, and continuously contribute to the field of listening and spoken language intervention.

While our students enjoy summer adventures, we're spending our summer Fridays celebrating the moments that made this school year so special. Throughout the summer, we'll be sharing photos and memories from classroom activities, field trips, special events, and more. Follow along and relive the fun with us!

Kicking off Flashback Fridays, check out how The Moog Center's Early Elementary Department teamed up with Missouri American Water during Source Water Protection Week. During this collaboration, volunteers from Missouri American Water taught our students where water comes from, how it’s filtered to keep us safe, and why protecting the Earth's resources matter! Our students used an interactive water table and built water filters. The learning was extended in a field trip to the Meramec River. Student created water filters, participated in a trash clean-up scavenger hunt, and fished in the river!

These engaging, hands-on experiences helped our students understand the importance of clean water, conservation, and caring for our environment while building real-world connections and meaningful vocabulary. Thank you again to Missouri American Water for partnering with us to make learning engaging, memorable, and accessible!

Be sure to check back each Friday to see memories we're revisiting from the 2025-2026 school year! Which school event are you hoping makes an appearance on Flashback Friday?
