💙 Bridging the Generation Gap at Southern Manor! 💙
What an afternoon we had at Southern Manor! We were so excited to welcome the Youth Leadership Bulloch Class of 2027, along with members of the Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce, for an afternoon of laughter, learning, and a little trip back in time! We had around 32 students join our residents, and we decided to put them to the test with our very own “Generation Gap Game!” 😄
The students had to tackle some things that were once everyday skills for our residents—looking up a phone number in the Yellow Pages 📖, dialing a number on a rotary phone ☎️, writing a check 📝, and even trying to fold a fitted sheet! 😂 Let’s just say some skills came easier than others. The check-writing challenge was definitely the toughest one!
But the best part was the conversations. The students asked our residents about dating “back in the day,” their first cars, their first jobs, what they spent their money on, how much they earned, and so many other questions. Our residents shared stories, wisdom, and memories, and there was no shortage of laughter along the way. ❤️
One of the sweetest moments was seeing one of our residents teaching a student some sign language. What a beautiful reminder that every generation has something to teach the next. 🥰
By the end of the afternoon, several students were asking if they could come back and visit our residents again—and we certainly hope they do! We may have started the afternoon trying to show them the “old way” of doing things, but I think everyone walked away learning something from each other.
A huge THANK YOU to the Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce and Youth Leadership Bulloch Class of 2027 for spending the afternoon with us. You brought so much energy, laughter, and life into Southern Manor! We loved having you, and our doors are always open. 💙
Different generations. Different experiences. One amazing afternoon of connection. ❤️
