Phyllis Jean Graham

Phyllis Jean Graham passed Aug 30th, 2026, at the age of 70, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and devotion. Born on July 21st, 1956, in Bells, Texas to Cecil and Betty Seagroves. She attended school in Guthrie, OK. She spent her life weaving a vibrant tapestry of family, joy, and unforgettable memories. On Jan 14th, 1974, she married her companion and loving husband of 52 years, Darrold Graham Sr, building a lifetime of shared dreams, unwavering support, and an enduring love that served as the bedrock of their massive, bustling family. Together, they raised 5 children teaching them the values of love, resilience, and humor. She worked for many years as a CNA and CMA. Her family was her absolute world. As the proud matriarch, she was the adored Gigi of 22 grandchildren and a devoted great-grandmother of 7 great-grandchildren. She took her role as the family's biggest fan very seriously—which frequently included playfully "stalking" her children and grandchildren’s pages to stay up-to-the-minute on their lives, drop loving comments, and ensure she never missed a single moment of their milestones. When she wasn't keeping tabs on her beautiful family online, she found peace and joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved the quiet patience of fishing, casting lines into the water, and enjoying nature. She was a master of patience in other ways too, spending countless hours creating beautiful pieces through crocheting and sharp-mindedly conquering endless books of word searches. Her home was filled with comfort and entertainment. She loved going to auctions and loved settling in to watch her favorite TV shows, and she never missed the excitement and music of the CMT Awards, which she looked forward to every year. She loved reading books and spending time with family, and taking care of her ponies. She was a wonderful, vibrant woman who loved fiercely, laughed easily, and made everyone around her feel uniquely cherished. She would never let you leave their home or hang up the phone without saying "I love you" and would always wave at the window when anyone left. Her spirit will live on in the stories told around family tables, the cozy blankets she stitched, the fishing spots she loved, and the digital notifications her family will forever miss seeing. She will be profoundly missed, but her love remains an anchor for us all. She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters Dorthy, Connie and Trina and 1 brother David. She is survived by her loving husband of the home Darrold Graham Sr, 5 children Darrold Graham Jr and wife Evelyn, Tim Graham and wife Jessica, Amanda Graham and significant other Mel Shupe, Jeff Graham, Jeromy Graham and wife Crystal. 22 grandchildren Ashley, Janetta, Austin, Brettney, Aaron, Corinna, Adam, Victoria, Caden, Cameron, Sydney, Jozee, Tavon, Liam, Chloe, Hunter, Ayden, Hailey, Tanner, Parker, Preston, Hannah and 7 great grandchildren Kailor, Ropyr, Brenley, Naomi, Jeremiah, Ryann, Hudson, 2 brothers Cecil Seagroves Jr and wife Dorthy, Tommy Seagroves and 2 sisters Judy Graham and husband Bob, Lenora Poer and husband Mark. Many nieces, nephews and kids who thought of her as their grandma. James "Jim" Steven Kirby

Dr. James Steven “Jim” Kirby, 90, died on August 19, 2026. A memorial service will be held at Lost Creek United Methodist Church of Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Saturday, October 3rd, at 10:30 a.m.

James Steven, son of Benjamin Franklin “Frank” & Amy “Loreen” (Shumate) Kirby, was born December 24, 1935, at their farm home near Perkins, Oklahoma. Jim spent his early years in the Perkins-Stillwater area and graduated from Perkins High School in 1953. He played cornet in the band and continued to play for enjoyment the rest of his life. He raised sheep and was also active in Future Farmers of America. As a senior, Jim placed as High Individual in livestock judging at the national contest in Denver, where his FFA judging team was champion as well.

Jim continued his education at Oklahoma A&M College, where he studied Agronomy and actively participated in both animal and crop judging. He joined the Air Force ROTC in 1956 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1957. The highlight of Jim’s college years was being introduced to his future wife, Barbara Ruth Sharkey, at a Valentine’s Day party; they were married on the 17th of August in 1958.

After completing a Master of Science degree from Oklahoma State University in 1959, Jim was stationed at the Air Force Base in Ozona, Texas, and was later transferred to the base in Thule, Greenland. Upon return to civilian life, Jim completed his doctoral degree at Iowa State University, where he conducted research on sorghum, and then began working for the Ag Alumni Seed Program in Indiana, where he researched several varieties of corn. During these early years of marriage, the couple welcomed daughters, Dena, Kenda, Karen, and Connie.

Jim and Barbara returned home to Oklahoma in1969 when Jim took a job in the Agronomy Department at OSU. They established KirbyKreek Farm between Perkins and Stillwater in 1971. Jim raised cattle, sheep, dogs, donkeys, rabbits, fish…and more. He was fondly known as a “modern-day Noah” by Barb and the girls and had to have at least one pair of each type of animal. Jim thoroughly enjoyed supporting his daughters and other students with their 4-H and FFA livestock projects. Additionally, Jim relished friendly competition and his own participation in Payne County Sheep Producers and Cattlemen’s events, pasture tours, and all things agriculture.

During Jim’s tenure at OSU, he taught courses in crop genetics, mentored graduate students from across the globe, and conducted research to improve over 15 different types of crops including soybeans, mung beans, and chickpeas; in later years, his research focus was primarily peanuts. With the broad goal of addressing world hunger, Jim’s expertise led to invitations from Kenya, Ethiopia, and a two-year assignment in Morocco where he collaborated with and supported local agricultural officials in crop development. Among other achievements and accolades, he was honored as a “Master Agronomist” by OSU and retired in 1999.

Together, Jim and Barbara shared a love of gardening and were members of several local gardening organizations. Both loved traveling, exploring new places, and learning about other cultures. They were members of the First United Methodist Church in Perkins for over 50 years, where each served in several leadership roles as well as participated in the chancel and bell choirs. Jim also served on the Board of Education for Perkins-Tryon Schools. In recent years, he participated in a wide variety of activities in the Primrose Retirement Community; chair volleyball, Wii bowling, and the music programs were among his favorites. Serving as a Primrose Ambassador, Jim especially liked welcoming and getting acquainted with new residents.

Jim was fun-loving and friendly, and it seemed like he knew at least one person almost everywhere he went. Upon hearing of his passing, a family friend said, “I will miss his firm handshake, a hand on your shoulder, big grin, and the time taken to chat and catch up!” He was a bit of a prankster and could usually find a joke in the recesses of his mind to use for any given occasion. He tried to be a good neighbor: ethical, honest, and helpful, using John Wesley’s maxim of “Do all the good you can.” as his guide.

Jim was preceded in death by Barbara, his wife of 63 years; his parents; and four siblings: Adella Marie Blumer, Kathryn “Lodiene” Nickels, Betty Louvenia Holinsworth, and Benjamin “Doyle” Kirby.

He is survived by his brother, Reverend Tom (Nelda) Kirby of Stillwater and his daughters: Dena (Don) Jaeger of Hochatown, Kenda Kirby of Logan County, Karen (Rick) Rogers of Fairfax, and Connie (Bryan) Lane of Spring Hill, TN. He is also survived by his grandsons: Kirby Jaeger of Oklahoma City, Christopher (Bekki) Jaeger of Oklahoma City, John Lane of Murfreesboro, TN, and Brent Lane of Huntsville, AL. He is survived by special friend, Martha Kenney of Stillwater, and several nieces and nephews as well.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff members at Primrose Retirement Community and the Stillwater Medical Community, as well as others who cared for Jim during times of need.

Ann Swank

Ann Heffner Swank Obituary

Ann Swank passed away peacefully at her farm in Stillwater on August 22, 2026, joining her beloved husband, David, and her loving God in heaven.

Born in Anderson, South Carolina on December 5, 1931 Ann was the daughter of Col. Pete Heffner and Marjorie Lucille Heffner. Due to her father’s military career, which spanned 35 years and two World Wars, the family moved often until finally settling in Stillwater during Ann’s sophomore year of high school.

Ann and David met in high school and remained sweethearts throughout college. They were married on June 12, 1953, and celebrated their 72nd anniversary last June before David’s passing.

Ann was a Renaissance woman whose college achievements included Mortar Board and Phi Kappa Phi honor society, while also serving as president of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, the “Sweetheart of Sigma Chi,” and lettered in the Oklahoma A&M Rifle Team.

She enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Texas Republic. She also served as a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Norman.

Ann was a gracious and devoted wife to David, supporting him throughout his military career as an officer in the 101st Airborne Division and Green Berets and his 50-plus years as a law professor and Dean at the University of Oklahoma Law School. This included a stint as OU’s First Lady when David served as interim President of the University.

Throughout their lives together Ann and David remained avid duck and quail hunters and enjoyed fly-fishing, leading many people to consider Ann one of Oklahoma’s premier female outdoorsmen of her time. Ann and David were true stewards of the land, maintaining their family farms, where they planted native trees and worked to restore pastureland and wildlife habitats.

An artist and poet, Ann’s work has been exhibited in several Oklahoma museums, including Tulsa's Gilcrease and Philbrook Museums and the Fred Jones and Goddard Center in Norman, as well as a recent one-woman exhibition at Norman’s Santa Fe Depot. She attributed her artistic achievements to God, taking little credit for her talents. It was an extension of her belief that her life had been blessed in every way.

Her passion for art led Ann to encourage budding artists and poets to pursue their own dreams. She had an appreciation for Native American art and collected works from artists throughout her adult life.

In 2020, with help from their daughter, Ami, David and Ann retired to their family farm, where Ann continued to paint landscapes until her death.

Ann leaves behind daughter, Ami Swank and son, David Swank II, both of Stillwater as well as grandchildren, David III and Katie Swank. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, David, and her brother Harry Swank.

Ann's final wish was for people not to mourn her passing. She said “Please do not mourn, I am blessed with a loving family and wonderful friends. I will see you on the other side”

The family plans a simple graveside service on Thursday, September 3rd at 10:30 a.m. Sunset Gardens, 6500 S. Perkins Road, Stillwater (Hwy 177 just north of Highway 33). For details, contact Strode Funeral Home.

Donald Howard Hudiburg

Donald Howard Hudiburg was born on November 17, 1945, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Christine (Moorhead) and Everett Hudiburg. He peacefully passed from this life at home on August 21, 2026, after a long battle with inclusion body myositis.

Donnie lived most of his life in Stillwater, where he was raised in a loving family alongside his older brother, Roger, his sister, Deanne, and his twin brother, Ronnie. He grew up in what now seems like a simpler, safer time, surrounded by a loving and protective family who gave their children the trusting freedom that today is sometimes called “free range.” Those early years helped shape the kind, independent, and genuine person he became.

Donnie attended Stillwater schools and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1964. He went on to attend Oklahoma State University and proudly served in the United States Navy from April 1969 through June 1970.

Following his military service, Donnie continued his education at Oklahoma State University and began a career as a science teacher and football and wrestling coach. He taught in Wagoner and Owasso before returning to Stillwater, where he continued teaching until his retirement in 1998.

Donnie was a talented and accomplished musician. He played guitar, banjo, and many other stringed instruments and had a remarkable ability to adapt his musical talents to many different styles. While he enjoyed all kinds of music, his favorite was always bluegrass. Music was an important part of his life and something he shared with those around him.

Donnie also had a wonderfully playful sense of humor. He loved a good pun, a clever joke, and finding just the right moment to make someone laugh. His humor could be quick, unexpected, and sometimes delightfully corny—but that was part of what made it so uniquely Donnie. He never seemed to take himself too seriously and had a way of bringing a little fun and lightness to everyday moments. Those who knew him well will remember not only the things he said, but the smile and laughter that so often followed.

Donnie and SueAnn were married in 1970 and built their life together in Stillwater. They raised two daughters, Rebecca and Mandy, and created a loving family whose roots remained firmly planted in the Stillwater community.

Donnie is survived by his beloved wife, SueAnn, daughter Rebecca Longan, daughter Mandy (Rusty) Laforge, granddaughters Taylor Grooms, Olivia Laforge, and Anna Laforge, sister Deanne Ketch, twin brother Ronnie (Jo Anne) Hudiburg, and cousin Johnny Po***ck.

He is also survived by his “second family,” the Naff family, who held a very special place in his heart: Peter (Trude) Naff, Stephen (DeeDee) Naff, Tim (Diane) Naff, Adam Naff, and Emily (Steve) Ridgway, as well as other dear family members and close friends who were an important part of his life. Their love, friendship, and presence throughout the years were deeply meaningful to Donnie and his family.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Jeff Longan, Mychael Johnson, Kali, Emma, the Austin family, and the entire Elara hospice care team for the compassion, kindness, and support they provided to Donnie and his family during his final days.

Donnie will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former students, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His music, his laughter, his playful spirit, his kindness, and the memories he created with those he loved will remain with them always.

Jerry Ray Hatfield

Jerry Ray Hatfield of Stillwater Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026 at the age of 82 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was born March 23, 1944 to Odessa Camp Helm Hatfield on the family farm in Haskell County, Texas. The family moved to Abilene where Jerry was adopted by Dewey Hatfield upon Odessa’s second marriage. Jerry lived at home with his family until the age of 16 when he was accepted into the Abilene State School system. There, he made numerous friends and participated in many school activities.

Jerry graduated to the group home systems of Texas and lived in a variety of locations including ASS, Stamford Group Home, Northwood of Abilene, and private care with AJ and Bobbie Draper. He worked a variety of jobs but was particularly successful working in ceramics at the sheltered workshop, and later took great pride working for the Recycling Center of Abilene, eventually mastering every area of recyclables in the facility. In 2007, Jerry relocated to McCall’s Chapel in Ada OK to be nearer to his sister’s family. He spent three years there, happily tending the fish ponds and enjoying semi-retirement. When the Oklahoma family relocated to Stillwater, Jerry migrated north, first to Westview Nursing Home in Guthrie, then moved to Stillwater and Grace Living Center (formerly Stillwater Creek). He was well-liked among the staff and residents, keeping them on their toes with his sense of humor and ornery personality. They speak fondly of their “Jer-Bear” and he will be missed.

Jerry had multiple passions during his lifetime including John Wayne westerns, fishing, smoking his pipe, baloney sandwiches, Dr. Pepper, his dog Jinx, spending time with family, napkin fights and, of course, following America’s team, the DALLAS COWBOYS!. He was an exceptional brother, cousin, uncle and friend.

Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved mother Odessa Hatfield, brother James “Snuffy” and sister-in-law Mary Helm, brother Denny “Ed” Hatfield, grandparents W. C. and Delanie Camp, uncle W. C. “Junior” Camp and very special brother-in-law David “Dan” Daniels. He is survived by his sister Judy Daniels of Stillwater, aunt Sally Camp, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Honoring the family’s wishes, there will not be a public funeral or memorial service. A private inurnment will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerry’s name to Stillwater Medical at Home Hospice (formerly known as Karman Legacy Hospice) of Stillwater or the hospice institution of your choice.

Carolyn D Frank

Mary Carolyn “Duke” Frank, 88, passed away August 14, 2026. A memorial service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2026 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

‘Duke’ was born April 1, 1938, to Bertha Beebe Duke and Jep Berry Duke in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After graduating high school in 1955 she attended Oklahoma A & M College at Stillwater, OK. In 1957 the college became Oklahoma State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree with honors, graduating in 1955. It was there that she met a country boy from Morrison, Oklahoma, the love of her life, L.D. ‘Hoss’ Frank, whom she married on August 27, 1958. They affectionately became known as “Hoss and Duke”. Both loved to tell the story that not many can set claim to…. They went to Stillwater to college as an Aggie and graduated from a university as a ‘Cowboy and Cowgirl’ without very changing schools!!

She worked at Berry Oil a company in Stillwater before moving to the OSU University as the right hand ‘man’ of Dr Salmon, Dean of Architecture for over 11 years. She was the first President of the National Secretaries Association serving in that roll for several years. All the while starting and raising a young family. She had a deep love for learning, teaching others and was well known for her kindness and generosity to family, friends and her small community.

She loved to study and learn about the Bible spreading the word and sharing with others that yearned to know the truths from the Bible also. She spent more than 45 years as a loyal servant of Jehovah God spreading those truths to all that showed an interest in learning bible knowledge, as she did. Besides raising her family and spreading the word of God, she and her husband ran Noble County Feed & Seed in Morrison, Ok for 12 years. She also opened and operated a health food store during this time. Which required more learning, teaching and helping others learn about good food, health and nutrition. She did extensive research on health which included much travel.

She became a huge genealogy buff and took great joy in learning about and preserving her family’s history. She shared this info at every family reunion, even writing books for different family lines. She created and wrote the Morrison Community Development Newsletter for years, sharing history of our small community along with the genealogy of many. She traveled across the United States to gather information at every small library along her route. This was also family time, as she always had a couple of grandkids with her on her ‘vacation’. She had a true gift for connecting with people. She loved to talk, share stories, and most of all, help others whenever she could.

Family has always been of utmost importance to Carolyn.

Carolyn Duke Frank is preceded in death by her loving husband Hoss; Parents, Jep Duke, Bertha Beebe, and bonus mother Ola Duke; sister, Bebe Spessard and brother JB Duke. Her Brother-in-law LeRoy, and sisters-in-law Evelyn Rogers and Ruth Ann George

She is survived by her four children, Jeff Frank of Morrison, Jan and husband Gary Lesh of Perry, Joe and wife Rochelle Frank of Bergheim Texas , and Rebecca "Becky" and husband Richard Denton of Stamford Connecticut; grandchildren Jennifer Christian, Jackie and wife Stephanie Frank, Jason and wife Danielle Lesh, Jared Lesh and Erika, Jamin and wife Megan Lesh, Joel Lesh, Jenna Lesh, Jordan and wife Katie Lesh; great grandchildren, Wyatt Christian, Sage Christian, Raylee Christian, Daden Christian, Dayla Christian, Taygen Jo Frank, Jackson Frank, Jillian Frank, Jake Frank, Josie Frank, Jayci Frank, Carson Stokes, Gunnar Lesh, Cannon Lesh, Jake Lesh, Mattie Ward, Jensen Lesh, and Canton Matlock; and two great-great grandchild, Ryder Christian and Riggin Christian. Along with a slew of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

What a fantastic life this hard working, determined, caring, giving, loving woman of God has had!

Betty Copeland

Betty Copeland was born in Montana on January 10, 1936, on a day when the temperature had fallen to -10 degrees. The daughter of itinerant evangelists, Betty was shaped early by a life of faith, music, and service. In 1952, she married Logan Harper and embraced the role of a devoted pastor’s wife while raising their four children and teaching piano. Their marriage ended in 1975.

In 1978, Betty married Houston Copeland and played a significant role in supporting his success as a State Farm Insurance agent. She had a natural gift for connecting with people, and her warmth, hospitality, and gracious way of making others feel welcome were known throughout the community. They divorced in 2005.

Betty will be remembered for her beauty, grace, loyalty, and loving spirit. She treasured her family and friends deeply, and even near the end of her life, she took pride in having her hair and makeup done and her jewelry on. People were drawn to her positive outlook, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, and shopping.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight and Arlene Treeby; her daughter, Janis Adkins; and her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Nancy Treeby.

She is survived by her daughters, Zelda Wilmoth and her husband, Joe, and Rhonda Whitlow and her husband, Ken; her son, Vance Harper; seven grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her memory and love.

Betty spent the final years of her life at Linwood Village Nursing Home in Cushing, OK, where she was dearly loved. The staff could always count on her for a smile, a laugh, and a quick comeback—small gifts that reflected the joy and spirit she shared with those around her.

Bob Gene Graham

Bobby Gene Graham was born January 3, 1942, to Archie and Gladys Graham in Laverne, Oklahoma. His brother, Donald Lee Graham, joined the family on August 14, 1945 when the family lived in Wichita, Kansas, where Archie and Gladys both worked in the war effort. Bob's funeral mass is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

After the war, the family returned to northwest Oklahoma where they made their home first in Woodward, then Ingersol (where Bob started school in a one-room school house), then to Buffalo, where Bob attended the rest of his public school years and graduated high school in 1960. During junior high and high school, Bob played baseball and football. He had a lifelong love of football often watching the Buffalo Bison games online. In addition to Bison football, he was an AVID fan of University of Oklahoma football.

After high school, Bob attended Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee where he received an associate degree in heating and air conditioning. Heating and air conditioning brought him to Stillwater for his first job with the Clint Cook Company Heating and Air Conditioning.

In 1967 Bob joined the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 41 years as a City Letter Carrier. He loved his job, his customers, and the people he worked with.

On May 25, 1985, Bob married Kathy, the love of his life. They enjoyed their children and grandchildren as often as possible. Bob and Kathy took many trips to national parks, particularly in the western United States. In 2005 they discovered Santa Fe, New Mexico, and developed a love for the high desert, glorious sunsets, and Pueblo pottery.

Bob was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stillwater. He would be honored if anyone chooses to do so, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the “Love Thy Neighbor” fund at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Stillwater.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to those who cared for Bob so lovingly these past weeks – Dr. Cathy Nieman, Dr. Nieman’s staff, Rochelle and Kao, and the caring and competent staff of Stillwater Home Medical Hospice. We thank you so much for your caring and kindness. What a blessing you have been to our family.
