Matthew "Matt" Blaine Griffin

Matthew Blaine Griffin, Marshall, Oklahoma, was born December 19, 1952, in Exeter, California, the son of Knox Laverne Griffin and Lillian Marie (James) Griffin. He was known by his friends as Matt.

When the oil patch slowed down, he went to work for Ditch Witch for 18 years, retiring as a lead person. He loved to travel to Colorado with family and camp by the stream and fish. He also liked driving the back trails in the mountains with their ATV. He considered himself a “football nut” and enjoyed watching sports on television. “I also have enjoyed everyone I meet,” said Matthew.

Hazel May Horner

Hazel (Treat) Horner, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the age of 82.

Hazel was born in Glencoe, Oklahoma, where she also met and married her husband Gerald Horner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald, whom she lovingly teased and “razzed” at every opportunity, her daughter Kim (Horner) Gottfried, and other extended family.

Hazel is survived by her children, Gerry Horner of Midland, Texas, and son-in-law, Lloyd Gottfried of Perkins, OK. She was a proud grandmother to Darian and George Cleveland of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Craig and Kristen Anderson of Katy, Texas; and Morgan and Piper Gottfried of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also cherished her great-grandchildren, Mila and Arlo, two sisters, Betty Warden and husband Dean and Virginia Rose all of Stillwater, Oklahoma; brother, Clyde Treat, Jr. and wife Connie of Perkins, Oklahoma.

Hazel worked for many years in the custodial department at Oklahoma State University, where she was known for her strong work ethic and steady presence.

To know Hazel was to know someone truly feisty, funny, and full of spirit. She had a way of keeping her children and grandchildren on their toes and never missed an opportunity to stir up laughter or a little mischief. While she wasn’t one for frequent hugs or words of affirmation, she had her own unmistakable ways of showing love. One of her signature gestures was handing her grandchildren a $20 bill with the instruction, “Put this in the teapot, you might need it.” Hazel also showed her love through creativity and generosity. She spent countless hours making handmade doll clothes, giving them away to any child she thought might enjoy them.

Hazel’s legacy is one of humor, resilience, and quiet but meaningful love expressed through action rather than words. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the joy of knowing her.
