June is Acne Awareness Month, and there’s no better way to recognize it than by answering one of the most common questions we hear: when does acne need a dermatologist instead of another drugstore product?

If you have tried cleanser after cleanser, spot treatment after spot treatment, and every viral acne product on your feed, but your breakouts keep coming back, your skin may need more than guesswork.

Acne can be caused by clogged pores, excess oil, bacteria, hormones, inflammation, stress, certain products, or even a damaged skin barrier. That is why one product rarely solves every breakout for every person.

A dermatologist can help identify what type of acne you have, what may be triggering it, and what treatment plan actually makes sense for your skin.

It may be time to see a dermatologist if:

⭐ Your acne is painful, deep, or cystic
⭐ Breakouts keep coming back in the same areas
⭐ You are developing dark marks or scarring
⭐ Over-the-counter products are not working
⭐ Your skin feels irritated, dry, or worse from acne products
⭐ Acne is affecting your confidence

Acne is common, but that does not mean you have to keep treating it alone.

This Acne Awareness Month, stop guessing and start getting a real plan for your skin.

Schedule an acne consultation with Farah Dermatology & Cosmetics and let our team help you find the right treatment approach for clearer, healthier-looking skin.

Did you know your “healthy” smoothie could still trigger breakouts?

That morning smoothie might look clean, but if it’s packed with fruit juice, flavored yogurt, honey, sweetened protein powder, or too much fruit at once, it can hit your skin differently than you think.

The problem is the sugar load.

When your smoothie spikes your blood sugar, your body can respond with more insulin. For some people, that can increase oil production and inflammation, which may make breakouts more likely.

That does not mean smoothies are bad. It means the way you build them matters.

A skin-friendlier smoothie usually has protein, fiber, and healthy fats to slow things down. Think plain Greek yogurt instead of flavored yogurt, whole fruit instead of juice, chia seeds, nut butter, avocado, or leafy greens.

Because sometimes the “healthy” drink you make every morning is not helping your skin glow.

It might be feeding the breakout cycle.

Struggling with breakouts that keep coming back? Let Farah Dermatology & Cosmetics help you understand what your skin actually needs and create a treatment plan that works for you.

There’s a reason blueberries are always tied to glowing skin. They’re rich in antioxidants, which help your body fight the kind of stress that can leave your skin looking dull, flat, and tired before the day even starts.

When your skin is constantly dealing with stress from poor sleep, pollution, sun exposure, and everyday inflammation, it can lose that fresh, rested look. Blueberries help support your skin from the inside by giving it nutrients that protect, repair, and keep your complexion looking more alive.

They also contain vitamin C, which plays a role in collagen support. And collagen matters because it helps your skin look smoother, firmer, and more refreshed.

So no, blueberries will not replace your skincare routine or magically erase a bad sleep schedule.

But adding them to your meals a few times a week?

That’s an easy little habit that can help your skin look brighter, healthier, and a lot less “I’m running on 4 hours of sleep.”
